Hi,

Are you looking for a 12g or a 20g? Nothing wrong with any of those brands, personally I stick to the big three (Browning, Beretta and Miroku). You could Take a look on the guns for sale section, you'll find plenty or Gun Trader.

One really important thing though, the make of gun is nowhere near as important as how well the gun fits you. If I were you I'd pop down to your local gunshop and mount a few. The shop owner should help you find something suitable.

Good luck and hope you find your first gun soon :good:

P.S. Wish I'd had a grand to spend on a gun when I was 14!

I've got a lovely Lanber sporting deluxe multi choke for sale of you are interested. About 5 years old, little use, very able gun that is solidly built. Well under your £1000 budget at £595. I'm 5'7 and it's been perfect for me starting out.

Beretta Browning Miroku, are all very good guns at good price and quality, if you don't need to spend all your money don't because you can get a very smart one of either for less than that, I say go for a 30" if you can handle it at your size and age so when you have a growing period your gun will still be ok. good luck if you need need any advice or help in finding stuff out come back to me, as I kind of know what I'am on about!!!

Sorry to point this out but you can't purchase a gun until your 18. So unless someone gifts it to you you can't have it on your ticket for another 4 years.

I too was thinking that, also at 14 still have some growing to do, would suggest a good chat with your coach before spending any money (sorry being given a gun)

i ment it being gifted .. i just thought you guys would understand .. also thank you for all your advice and im looking for 12g. When I said £1000 i ment that was a maximum but I am looking for about 500 or less. One last thing if I want to get it re-cast how much would that cost?

Thanks guys

Right

To the original poster.

Your budget would get you a decent gun, but I would try a few rather than rush in to an impulse buy. Due to your age, it will be on someone else's licence, but good luck.

Ive got a 20g E Rizzini thats had the stock professionally shortened and a better butt pad fitted,

have the piece that was removed so it can be refitted so the stock length can grow with you.

Was done for my 11yr old son but he's not shown the interest, So it's not getting used.

£375 ono

I aquired my first shotgun at 15, started shooting at 14. Now 18 but still shorter than you. I've always used 12 bores with 28 and 30 gram shells with no problems and I'm lightly built. Beretta's and Brownings are at the upper end of the quality scale, but dont have to be the most expensive. I got my Browning semi auto for £410 and my Beretta O/U for £500. Bargain hunter is my middle name. If you have any technical questions PM me and I'll try to explain them to you best I can. Always nice to see other youngsters shooting.

At what size and age do you think I will be ready to move up from 30" to a 32" Ristmister?

Semis are good because you have the light recoil and you will get into good habits with cleaning, but some people get snotty about semis pinging cartridges everywhere (especially if you ever do DTL), another thing to bear in ming with a semi is that you have an extra 4" of reciever on the end of the barrel so a 28" barrel will feel more like a 32".

Overall a semi will be fine as long as you can manage a bit of micky taking and bad looks from scorers that have had emptys flung at them while you shoot, also you wont be able to shoot pheasents and stuff with it if you get the chance, other then that a semi is fine

Hope that helps

Why would you need to? 32 inch does t have to be the pinnacle. All depends on how a particular gun fits. 32 isn't going to affect your scores overly. Practice and good teaching will.

Correct answer! If 30" suits your style better then that's the gun for you. Don't get fixated on wanting 32s
