BlaserF3
Hello, Who shoots at Crabtree and whats your opinion of the clay shoot there. Do you think the clays are too easy, too difficult or too hard? I think that they are becoming a tad too difficult with edge on clays too far away. MAL S
yes some are a bit to hard and a bit to far away
Chard
Only been there once, I thought they would have been OK, but the weather was ridiculous  They seemed to be good, challenging stuff, but all doable
BlaserF3
I was there yesterday, there was quite a few 40 yard edge on clays which I thought were a bit "over the top" for most of the shooters abilities there. I have a mate who is in AA in sporting and he reckoned he had shot easier clays at open shoots. Their main customer base are just ordinary club level shooters and they are not hitting an awful lot of clays, which does not bode well. The layouts have changed a fair bit since you had your rainy day out Chard, the difficulty level has risen a fair bit. He should probably have more of a "something-for-everybody" mix. I can understand them putting some decent targets on, but club shooters might find it a bit demoralising if it's all tasty stuff. I'd have thought the club shooters would get bored senseless shooting easy stuff every week though, they ought to stretch themselves a bit
canthitathing
Like Chard says, it was a really enjoyable shoot with the exception of the horizontal hail and hurricane force wind. I'll definately make the trip back when the weather picks up
beretta
should have another trip up there in better weather
polester
The thing with crabtree is if you find them too hard on one stand you just move onto some easier ones

fenntay
I was there yesterday I shot 81 . With hardest stand IMHO benign the rabbit and the pool shoot was interesting ,usually in a few weeks Edward will have stands form the bottom field right to the top field as a rule of thumb starting easy getting harder us you go up. But yes I thought it was a harder course than Blackpool , but I don't mind as I only live 5 minutes away from crabtree
100milesaway
Edward normally sets up afew easier stands for novices or those partial to needing their egos massaged. I love the setup there, and would hope it stays how it is. Aspire to greater things and if you need an easier stand there will be one there for you. from Auntie. Not many easy stands now Auntie, Edward is no longer setting the stands up now. Far too much edge on stuff on show now, it wouldn't be so bad if they turned a bit so they stood out a bit more. By the way fenntay I found the rabbit not too bad. Edited April 8, 2012 by BlaserF3
southrop
It must be a bit demoralizing missing more than you hit, but you can always vote with your feet, but you will never improve unless you shoot targets that challenge your ability. I don't miss more than I hit, I just think that a club shoot should have more easy stands to give people a bit more satisfaction and break a few clays, then maybe put one or two tricky angles in the to make the good shots think. I have seen quite a number of shooters miss nearly everything at Crabtree on four or five stands, what enjoyment is there in that? Blackpool's targets show a lot more of the clay on most stands and the average shot can hit them, but there are a few that need a bit of respect and it's a much more balanced shoot. beeredup
Not shot at Crabtree for a long while now as i usually stay local and go to Blackpool which as you say has a good balance of targets and i take great pleasure in figuring out the harder ones i tend to stay at a stand(if its not busy) and keep trying till i figure the target out and can hit it with confidence as i walk away with a sense of achievement knowing i have learnt some thing, so i will be having a drive to Crabtree when i get home to give it a try. but like you say too many challenging targets can be down heartening for the shooter if they struggle with too many you need to keep em keen by feeding em some gimme targets to dust Edited April 8, 2012 by beeredup
