swiss.tony
Right all started last night with bigboodaddy..he had picked up a new cz 452 22lr so we thought we wood take it for a spin plus my .223 for foxes if owt about, Got there fore about 10.30pm by 12,30am we had 12 rabbits and 6 hares in the boot then the rain started so that was us done. SO up at 8 am to meet cockercass for a day out at a rifle range with fister aka Chris nr Huddersfield and wow there were sum big toys there best one for me was a 300 win mag no mod that made the ground shake had 1 shot with it and ran away like a gay girl. OR well glad i dont shoot bears or moose cracking day out boys so a big thanks to them and the chicken shop was lush for dinner. And too the last bit which SI-BORE wood be happy with after i got back from range thought i nip out for last hr for some long range rabbit bashing with .223 before dark any way cut a long story short iv done my BEST SHOT EVER AND I MEAN EVER IN MY 28 YEARS SHOOTING LIFE Started to zero in on a crow about 200 to 250ish away for a crack at when i saw a hare on the next field over god no s how far so thought wat hell why not river bank as back stop any way 1st shot about 10 inch in front of big rabbit 2nd shot it lifted it floor and bowled it backwards 2ft i sat there in shock screaming at my mate iv hit it. Any way no range finder but we paced it out and it was 427 now not sure how far that was but going back tommro to range it proper but trust me it was a field and a half and a stunning shot for me MY best shot to date was 197 with hmr so iv smashed my personal best by miles so here a photo of my hare a 427 head shot hare with a .223 55 grain v max and a very very happy swiss a cracking 24 hrs out shooting with some great new and old mates all of pw bar 1 Edited April 21, 2012 by swiss.tony

bigboodydaddy
Thanks for another good night out lamping tony The triple 6mm mild steel swing targets i made for you was no good for the big gun as the bullets passed straight through the discs at the 100 yards that was the (mark 1) the (mark 2) will be a lot better as i will make the 6 inch discs out of 15mm plate so the bullets will not go through will make something next week on the plasma cutter for you to try out.Nice long range shot buddy hope to get out with you again next week some time. Thanks again tony top man. :good: :good:

swiss.tony
tony im not trying to wind you up its just when you said your 1st shot was 10 inches away wheres your other shots going if your confident of kills at long ranges all well and good and your right i dont have big rifles so i dont know there capabilities im not on here to slag people off but we all like to see nice clean kills lest you no when your comments are wrong when you shoot bullet guns your always leaning but the rifle will kill a fox out too 500 yards if you can hit it thing with big guns if you miss it runs off it you hit it dies . so 2 shots at a target is not dangerous or cruel its just pest control Evan full on snipers miss and have to back up shots i did not appreciate your comments seeing as it was my best shot in 28 years and all i wanted was to tell every one on here cause nobody round me ie friends/family care what i shoot or how far it was it don't mean any thing to them. Dead-Eyed Duck
Sorry Tony, but I have to disagree - and yes - I've had a couple of 223's and a 22-250 etc in my time. When you pull the trigger at something you want it dead when the bullet hits. When you have been at this game (shooting) for a long time you see many things. I've seen a rabbit hit with a 223 at 'long range' to have its back leg blown off and run away screaming - not very nice. I've also seen a fox shot at 350 yards and run round in circles with it's rear end mashed until the shooter could get (in this case) a 3rd shot to finish it off. Just because foxes and rabbits are labelled as vermin does not mean that good old Joe Public will not get upset if they find a badly wounded fox in their back garden. I'm not saying that I have never ever missed a shot - just that I believe that as far as possible you have to get all of the odds in your favour before you pull the trigger. Shooting at extreme range lessens the odds in your favour......

Thought everyone on here had respect for their quarry.... obviously not! si-bore ranges his targets, knows exactly how far, windage, range zeroed etc etc. Leave the guesswork/ practice shots for the range! I don't live under a rock, i don't care how long you've been shooting and i don't care how much you're respected. All i care about is the continuation of my/ our sport. This is my opinion and i'm entitled to it. Just think what the antis will make of it!
