I know a bit about the history of cowbit wash, a guy I used to work with father was one of the punt gunners on these. Is gun was donated to the gentleman's society and is now and exhibit at a local museum. Skating was booth winter pastime on the wash. I have no idea of any event Harry, please update me, I can't afford the local paper lol

******.....I`ve only got back from visiting relatives today otherwise I`d have gone myself. I have a couple of old B/W photos taken on Cowbit wash. They`ve been blown up to 20in x 16in. Both have pictures of old Fenmen from around 1902 in punts with a mixture of Greylags and Mute Swans hanging over the side!!!!!!!!!!! :o

A friend of mine Phil Grey who has wrote several books about wildfowling on Whittlesey Wash mentions one of the chaps in the photo in one of his books.....A rare breed indeed those old fowlers from yesteryear were!! ;)
