Shooting Stephen
I may have posted this twice (today) - I'm a bit aold for this interweb tomfoolery! B) I am about to take the plunge and buy a FAC air rifle. My current FAC has 3 slots for .22 rifle, I do a bit of .22 rimfire target shooting. I currently only own one rifle, so... can I use one of my existing slots (for .22 rifle) for a 22 air rifle. May well have one of them monster gas rams fron Theoban! :yp: Thanks for any help. kyska
Above is correct, but you can get one of the slots changed by variation obviously.

bedwards1966
Err, if it just says '.22 rifle' then I don't see how he couldn't have an air powered one. This was discussed in a thread on here quite recently, as I recall with a view to it allowing a .22 centre-fire too if it doesn't specify rim-fire. If it just says '.22 rifle' and doesn't mention RF or lr then I'd phone up your firearms department and confirm that they're happy for you to buy an air-gun with it, if they say it should state air-gun then send it in for a free variation, but as it is I can't see how you wouldn't be allowed any .22 rifle you desire if that's what is written. One small thing, I'm assuming your FAC is conditioned for shooting over land, not just targets. Edited May 22, 2012 by bedwards1966

Steve .22 rifle, your FAC actually has a spare slot that simply lists as .22 rifle? That is appalling terminology, your firearms dept need a boot up the rear! Shooting Stephen
Thanks chaps. The wording is: at the top 'rifle' then at the slot '.22' under type is 'moderator' It would I think make a lot of sense if it does cover all 22s. The days of separate slots for bolt action or semi auto or falling block just makes work for the police when we chop and change. If they believe I am a suitable person to own a 22 rim fire why not a FAC air rifle? I will ring the nice policeman and check. I will report back. Dekers
Thanks chaps. The wording is: at the top 'rifle' then at the slot '.22' under type is 'moderator' Perhaps it's too early for me but I didn't understand that, at first glance that looks like a moderator slot. Your FAC will show... Firearms authorised to be purchased or acquired Under that it will have 3 headings.......... Calibre Type Quantity What does it say under each? It would I think make a lot of sense if it does cover all 22s. The days of separate slots for bolt action or semi auto or falling block just makes work for the police when we chop and change. No it doesn't, because you have to get a variation if you chance anyway The slots have rarely said that for years, that info lists sometimes in firearms possessed. If they believe I am a suitable person to own a 22 rim fire why not a FAC air rifle? I will ring the nice policeman and check. I will report back. Supports the theory that one should not be overly specific when one applies...
