markyboy
What are people using to get good bags? What things are on the Market that are worth getting? Are people still using magnets or are the Chris green style floaters taking over. I've a pigeon shooting trip arranged in august and want to be fully prepared Mark
swiss.tony
finding the birds are the main thing mate you can have every bit of gear they make ie magnet ,floaters, flappers, but if there are no birds about you wont Evan get a shot
Sharpshooter.123
I will be totally honest. I don't use any fancy gear, just a few full bodies decoys, a stack of shells and 2 floaters and iv had bloody good bags (upto 130) using that simple setup. But as Swiss sais it's pointless having all the gear and setting up where there is no birds.
Cranfield
Everything works on its day. In August it should be easier, with young birds about they are less cautious of decoys.
markyboy
Setting up when no birds is a thing I learnt a few years ago ! Eager to get a shot thinking I could pull birds from a far!! You quickly learn ! We don't have a big number of pigeon here with bags of 50 being classed as alot the best was 106 for me last year with 2 floaters out and that was it. But I have more bad days than good. But I now class pigeon shooting up there with my favourite type of shooting and I do pretty much every type of shotgun shooting

I've a pigeon shooting trip arranged in august and want to be fully prepared Mark In July, August, if there is a little wind some times less is more a cpl of floaters and a few decoys will do the trick, building up your patern with dead birds. Chris green style floaters are very good I must admit
motty
I use a magnet almost every time i go out (and sometimes 2 or 3). That doesn't mean they are a necessity, but i don't think you can beat their power of attraction.

Mike m
Peronnally i have never had much success with all the new gear, rotarys, flappers etc, personally i find the old ways are the best, just stick to the basics and you can't go wrong, find the birds get under the flight lines and if it isn't working change the pattern or move, good look!!
