I'm not going to fault you or anyone for using a Ratcatcher for shooting rabbits with (Everyone to their own as long as they do the job humanely)) but just out of interest do you know what sort of power it is putting out mate?

i know what your saying dont worry, thus i keep within the guns limits. i'm at 10.5 ft/lbs chrono'd at the gunsmiths that was on a cold capsule so i dont want to go anymore incase the hot days put me over the limit

That's a descent power rating for a Ratcatcher. Rather than not taking it out when it is hot why not try to get it chronoed while you have some descent weather so that you know. I would imagine that if it is turning out 10.5 during "reasonable" weather it will stay within the legal limits in the sunshine, and it would be a shame to waaste any good shooting opportunities by not knowing!

It's entirely up to you but that is what I would do mate. :good:

Enjoy it, and well done! :good::good::good:

cheers :) i do enjoy it! :D

its got the power adjust (knob on the back) and the longer rabbitstopper barrel (that added 1ft/lb alone) so a nice gun, but requires alot of stalking!! like i said, i keep within 15 yards ish and they drop stone dead with a nice head shot.

i think it'll be safe, like you say i may leave the capsule in my pocket or in my hands to warm up then try it on a chrono.

as you use the gun it cools anyway, as is the nature of CO2.

hopefuly change to a pcp for more range and accuracy soon though :good:

My XS78 was running at ~10.5 and then in this recent hot weather it was more up near ~11.3, good to stay on the safeside, 11.3 on the boiling days we have had gives me enough "buffer" so i wouldnt go over.

Great shooting! ill bet getting within 15 yards is hard stalking?

That's what I was thinking :) better safe then sorry! And getting bummed by big Erl inside ;)

The permission hasn't really been shot so the rabbit dont have much fear, but it's a lot of face in the grass, sliding along slowly stuff!!

good stuff im sure big earl will be dissapointed at our buffer stratergy! got one barren field at the moment lots of good sized rabbits in it and no cover! Slow hard work just for one rabbit. I would imagine you could take 30 yard shots easily enough if need be, although i dont know allot about ratcatchers, accuracy wise, soarly tempted to get one of the pistol versions (crosman 2240 for the squirells that are on the bird table)which incase others jump aboard, are highly moddable and will easily beable to put out 5.5ftlbs, and ill be shooting about 4 yards.. (RESIST demonwolf your meant to be saving for a decent pcp set up) - Anyway sorry for the babble!
