theoben fenman
So what were we shooting all those rabbits etc with before the PCP came to the fore? My point exactly. If springers are effective why pay more for a pcp. If youve got the cash then great but this poll shows that you dont have to have a pcp to hunt. Simples!!! OHHH no meerkat emoticon
Chr15j
Just curious because most people dont seem to acknowledge springers as hunting rifles IMO a dumb question  bearing in mind u own a Fenman which is neither and prob the best of both worlds Edit just read poll options oh well, rammers best IMO, I love my fenman and had a ram in my old Vulcan Edited June 12, 2012 by Chr15j

jgguinness
As many others have said before, plenty of folk, including me, cut our teeth on springers. I loved my HW80k and looking back, I shouldn't have sold it, but the world is full of guns!! I can see the appeal of a PCP, and when I was a youngster and the Rapid 7's first came out I would have given anything to have one, mind you I also liked the AA TX200HC. My youngest brother has a Rapid 7 Mk1 now and it's the bizz. They are often lighter, easier to shoot, especially for follow up shots and quiet, but do cost quite a lot of money, especially with all the bottles and kit. As for why do people not go for a rimmy instead of a PCP...well I would think that for a PCP you don't have to have an FAC, the hassle of application forms, references, land, security etc where you can just go and buy a sub 12ft/lb PCP without all the chew on. I would still like another decent air rifle and would probably go for another springer due to the ease of use, low cost set up and still a lot of fun...but I'm still enjoying my 22lr Jonathan
Steve72
I'm new to the sport and am cutting my teeth on a hw97k. I went for a springer on the advice of a mate that has been shooting hw80' s for years. Not ruling out a pcp down the line I quite like them, but his advice was you can learn on a springer and shoot anything but if you learn on pcp it's harder to diversify. I'm by no means there yet but an loving learning the art on a springer.

I picked PCP because it's what I use and from a purely practical point, ten shot mags, no recoil and easy loading were too appealing. I will admit shooting with a springer is probably more fun and may give a bit more excitement!
bullet boy
PCP all the way for me.
theoben fenman
Ok i think we can close this with around an equal number of everyone surveyed uses a pcp to springer. Keep up the good work
ANGOF
seems my vote tips it for the springers then
Rimfireboy
For me it's a pcp or gas strut like your fenman, the thing with springers is that they loose power over time. They also loose power when your sitting in the ditch waiting for that rabbit... How long we're you in the ditch?
