be very very careful plinking in your garden as you might break the law if your pellets leave your boundary, welcome to PW :good:

Welcome to the mad house. :welcomeani: :welcomeani:

Do yourself a favour and find a local HFT club. There should be one in your area. Look on the UKAHFT web site and there is a club finder route or ask in your local gun shop. They will teach you how to shoot safely and give you a place to practise without offending the neighbours. They are also great fun and you will be with like people. You never know, there will probably be someone there who has permissions that they may be willing to take you out. Either way, GET INSURANCE!! :good:

I would advise joining BASC as after a while you will no doubt want to get more rifles and go hunting. It's addictive! I started off that way and now have three air rifles, two shotguns and a .22 rimfire. Obviously you will need a SGC and FAC for that lot but the rot sets in. I am now looking to go for a variation for a .223 for fox, munties and CWD. Obviously this will take a year as I have to get experience with the rimmy otherwise there will be conditions put on the CF. Shooting is very addictive.

With regards to permissions, you will have to keep knocking on doors but if the landowner knows you are insured, experienced and responsible then you have more chance. Very few farmers will even consider giving permission to someone who ain't insured. Think about it, they have possibly thousands of pounds worth of livestock or equipment about the place. Would you let someone you don't know loose on that lot without insurance?

Best of luck! Slowly, slowly catchy monkey. Enjoy the sport

Thankyou all. I am insured through BASC did that while waiting for my rifle from the gunshop just because of my neighbours they don't understand the law on air guns so had to put them streight. I have a ply backstop covered in underlay and scaffold planks in front of that with a solid wood door on the side incase of ricochet 👍.i was thinking into looking at a club there is 1 not to far about 25 miles or so in pontifract looks good the website but not had the balls to go as yet. Anyhow hope to chat with like minded folks. ✌

Oh and i should apologise for my spelling cos I am using an iPhone and it uses auto correct and sometimes I don't read what it says.

Glad to hear you are insured. Swallow your pride and get down to your local club. They are like minded people and will help you a lot. They won't bite unless you want them to.

It's great fun and you learn a lot at the same time. Best of luck!
