jgguinness
Hi all, I know this may open a can of worms, but what's your preferred style? Do you shoot better with one or the other? The reason why I'm asking is of the limited experience I've had with a SBS (used a few mates ones if various makes, both on game and clays and I bought a cheap SBS as a rough gun, and although only had it out a couple of times) I have generally hit what I was after. I have a Lanber Sporting Delux and it was my first ever shotgun, in excellent condition, and I've had mixed results. Sometimes hitting what I'm after, sometimes not, I would say 65/35 hit/miss ratio. It has crossed my mind that I may sell it and get a decent AYA No.4 or possibly put some towards and get a No.2 but am I crazy thinking of doing this?? I shoot a mix of clays and game. WelshLamb
I fell into the 'trap' of buying an OU for my first two guns. Bought a sxs a few weeks ago purely on the off chance as it was pretty, and cheap It's now my favourite gun. I haven't reached for an OU since!! RED BEARD
i like using my sbs more than my o/u,because its lighter, shorter and easyer to shoot, the trouble is it knocks my middle or index when i'm shooting it,but apart from that its fine. Shropshire_Lad
For a walk about gun I love my 25" sxs, I would never sell it. As a clay gun I have shot my best ever with an o/u, I will be keeping both. atvb Paul.
Albert 888
O/U first choice, but love using my sxs. Only use the auto stick when i have to.
welshwarrior
Shoot what you shoot best with I have my AyA no2 that I shoot well with and love but I'm better with my 682 so if I take the no2 I accept I will hit a couple less
littlerob
i have a side by side 12 it was cheap and i like to look of them used it alot pigeon shooting and at clays with good results but seem to kick like a mule with 32g cartridges. but i have tryed over n unders and they just dont seem to be for me as the feel heavy and seem to long. but then i havnt used the side by side hardly since buying a semi auto wich i seem to be **** hot with if i fire i hit it but then i ill be returning to the old sxs soon as game/ phesant seson is hear as i dout i would be like even tell to leave the many shoots if turn up with the semi auto
bedwards1966
I prefer a SxS compared to an O/U for almost everything. If you are doing well with one then stick with it.
smig4373
i like using my sbs more than my o/u,because its lighter, shorter and easyer to shoot, the trouble is it knocks my middle or index when i'm shooting it,but apart from that its fine. If its a rough/hide gun...tiny bit of foam and black gaffer tape on back of the trigger guard...I had a gun that did the same.. Side by side for me all the way...Have owned o/u in the past, always reach for my old Baikal tho...
Guest cookoff013
yeah, use mine rarely, but i seem to do as well as o/u. i put through homeloads that are softer than butter, it certainly reaches out and touches targets.
