activeviii
I couldnt sleep last night so at 3.30 i gave up, got up, and went for a look around a small patch of land. I have been out many times but only ever see tracks. Only fired one shot at live game with this rifle and that was a rabbit a few months ago. small entry hole and only an inch exit hole on that so happy with what the bullets doing. After a long stalk, not being able to get the shot because of long grass of the Buck on the brow of the slope, it disappeared back into cover, then came out further up the slope then walked back down but still not offering the shot. this happened for what seamed like hours. i had all but given up, hand in pocket for the buttalo call just to see the reaction. it ran straight past me, jumps a pig fence and stopped 50 meters away smelling the wind that was on my back blowing straight towards him. again the long grass not allowing the shot. all the time im holding my new Tikka T3 6.5x55 on the sticks but as i was caught in the open i dint open them, im using as a mono pod. Im stood there, in the open, sun in face, wind on back and a Roe buck stood broadside, in long grass, with just the head showing. i waited for ever, with the cross hair on where i thought the heart was but would take the shot. then the roe made the mistake of walking a few feet. i could now see the shot so took it. It is my first with this rifle and on fathers day. to say im chuffed is a slight under statement :D i dont normally put photos up of dead things but i just had to shear this one. thanks for reading the ramblings All the best Phil. activeviii
dropped on spot. he wouldn't of been able to get out the area as its pig wire topped with barb wire so he would of just crashed into it. still buzzing now.

njc110381
Nice shooting indeed. You hit something for a change!... I've seen many "dead" deer jump stock fences. With that placement though he wasn't going to move far and it's a great first for the new rifle. Well done. I won't be able to make the next range day. Typical really, as soon as something really tasty is on the menu the mrs has made plans! What can I say, you'll have to save a bit for me!
