PigeonEater
Nice one pal but does us a favour, dont stand with Carp, especially larger ones. You drop it and it will swim off ok but 7 days or so later it will pop up dead. And I know your not Carping as such, but if your fishing for them and catching a few, an unhooking matt and suitable net is needed. Some nice looking Carp there, treated right they will turn out to be big beauties!

Never stand when holding a carp as said. Putting your thumb in its mouth is what I would expect a 5 year old to do ,it is not the correct way to hold a carp , there is more than enough articles on carp care on the web , take a look at some. Are you old enough to drive? You shouldn't hold carp that high,or in that manner, like stated a decent mat and net is a must for carp fishing,or any sort of fishing for that matter,to be honest mate just by looking at your pics you can tell you must be pretty inexperienced. I hope that dirt on the perch isn't from where it was rolling round on the floor either....they are one of the most sensitive fish along with pike, a lot more so than carp. if you want to catch them treat them with respect to Edited June 20, 2012 by tomhw100
-Mongrel-
There's enough people on here having a go and I'm not about to jump on the band wagon, but, they are raising salient points. Holding the fish against you causes most of the protective slime covering to end up on your jumper leaveing them susceptible to infection, a thumb in their mouth is not a normal method, nor is cuddling them. Enjoy your fishing bud, but show your quarry some respect by learning how to land, handle and return them as safely as possible. Tight lines!
