Just driving back from a trip out with my family and this news comes on the radio .........Man dies from Anthrax in Scotland .......Apparantly he had a hobbie of making Musical instruments out of animal skins and what ever agency seems to think this is where exposure took place . :oops:

Now I have a interest in preserving the odd pelt ,fox tails etc'and was wandering could this be a isolated incident even though an experiment many years ago was carried out up there on one of the Isle's :lol:

Anthrax i beleive is most common if not ONLY found on Bovine skins sheep goats and other warm blooded animals and this has been known for a long time. It can also be passed on from infected meat products.

I dont think you need to worry to much about fox and deer pelts but you MAY want to take a gander online to see what info there is about the poss anthrax risk from untreated animal skins.

Oh and this may be of LITTE comfort but allegedly it is NOT contagious human to human :good:

I think he was importing most of his hides/skins from Africa where Anthrax is more commonplace.

That's right. They were untreated hides sourced from abroad. It still makes sense though to take precautions when butchering meat and handling animal parts. There are some things we can catch from animals, though humans are far more dangerous to us.

pascal norris is the mans name

died because he came into contact with badgers skins which he was using to make drums

theses were from road kill as we are told. he also sunk a well at his remote home just outside hawick which is being takin into it all

which is 12 miles from me as the crow flys. his house is all boarded up now for examination around 40 of his friends and familt members are now on antibiotics for two months as a saftey measure

hes was thought to have went to the doctors suffering from realy bad flew, but was sent home to rest and was dead within two days.

cheers kirky :no::no::no:??????

Henry is refering to a post I made along time ago before you were even on this forum Kirky and directed at me and me alone as I'm sure he is in no way making humour out of the situation which is directed at remaining family members :)

There aren't many people walking down Union St on a Saturday night - most are staggering wildly. And those that are sober look like they are staggering about - but that's just them avoiding the puke! :lol:

My son went to Aberdeen University and I can confirm this. I saw men in suits crawling along Union Street on their hands and knees and then subsiding into the gutter. Having lived a long time in Newcastle, I thought I'd seen the worst of this kind of behaviour - I was wrong.

[sniffs in a snobbish Geordie kind of way]
