Is there a farming website that indicates when farms in a certain area predict their crops are going to be harvested. I'm having a week or so in Cornwall soon and want to try and time it for some lamping on stubble.

farmers weekly have growers in certain areas that give reports on that kind of thing. If you go late July / first week of August assuming its not rained continually you should have stubble

Although he may not enjoy the lamping, can't your brother give you the nod?

Depends massively on all sorts of different things, weather, type of crop, whether the farm has a drier, size of the farm etc etc

they are starting to wish they'd paid the extra and got one on tracks here, and thats when they aren't looking at the hay and laughing

Thanks lads, brother has a business interest in Leicester that may need major attention in the next month or so and may be stuck up here for a few weeks pending the big switch over date - which keeps getting deferred.

 

It's the unseasonal amount of rain that's worrying me - and that it's warmer down there so may happen sooner than up here. The last thing I'd want to do is phone a farmer to tell him we're both 300 miles away from the joint rabbit control permissions.
