Pezaisahunter
I have recently just sold my very big and very bulky ProLogic Armour Max 4 Wildfowling jacket at a price of near enough what I paid for it about 18 months ago. The reason for the sale was as stated; (too bulky and large) But this was nothing to do with the jacket I do not think. But more the fact that I stupidly bought it as a Large thinking I would grow into it, when in fact it still looked like a dress on me last week! As the season is suddenly nearly upon us I would like some advise as to what Wildfowling Jacket I shuld purchase next which I would love to last me at least 5 years out on the marshes; which isn't too bulky, a snug fit and not very large!! I am a SMALL/MEDIUM. PS. If it was up to me I would shoot all year round in my t-shirt with a cotton fleece over that, but sadly that obviously isn't applicable on the marshes in the winter. But I hope you get my idea that I like shooting in lightweight attire. Thankyou (MAX 4 would be BETTER) Edited July 22, 2012 by Pezaisahunter

Wildfowler12
Have a look at the Jarrett jacket, it's made by RW. Cheaper than the eider and designed specifically with foreshore fowling in mind still a good £120-£150 though I think. TO ADD: My preference is a thick wax jacket! You can pick them up at gamefairs for about £30 each, BUT if you wait until 30mins before the fair closes, you can bet you'll get one for a tenner! Even if you only got a season out of it, it's not cost much! And it's easy enough to layer up from Nov. Albert 888
Rivers west jackets are ok if your short and wide they fit like a babour jacket. Oh and if you want to stay 100% dry dont buy one. If you like cross dressing you will love them as the zip is on the wrong side and causes allsorts of trouble. I have the jarrett jacket it doesnt fit right leaks in but its still the best jacket i have had upto date, and they will replace it if you have any bother (which you will). My mate has the eider jacket which has been replaced 3 times so far in one season. If i was to buy another jacket it would be a rivers west feild pro smock. Edited July 22, 2012 by Albert

They aint warm though nearly water tight and the pockets are **** plus you wont be able to hear anything through the hood due to the rustle. Even sat in a gutter for 4 hours with water running right down my back, not a drop through

Reabrook
I have the Eider and have not had any problems with it so far. It's done 2 full seasons and I have no plans to replace it at present. I have heard several people complain of leaks and dodgy zips so either they were unlucky or I was lucky? ( or perhaps we have it easy on the Severn lol) For all the above I can't say that I am that attached to it though. There is just something about it that I can't quite work out, my previous jacket was almost like an old friend and still hangs in my shed for early season dry days as I can't bear to part with it. The Eider will never reach that status. Functionally my only gripe would be the neoprene cuffs I just don't like them. For me it does what it says on the tin no more no less. Are they value for money? When I look at it hanging on a hook in the summer months I think not. When I'm hunkered down in a dyke in driving rain and sleet it's worth every penny . Still not in love with it though.

xav
I bought the Eider jacket last year, it looked solid and well made although I thought that the zip would not like the mud... I was right, after 3 months of normal use, the zips were split and the neoprene cuffs were damaged. I've had it replaced since but it could happen again. It's more suited to american style "waterfowling" (more flooded corn fields than tidal mudflats!) so if you stay away from sand it will sure keep you warm, otherwise I'd go for an ex army smock with a good layer. xav
True, sometimes cheaper is better. Decathlon have some good camo jackets too (they coem with a game bag at the back as well which can be useful)

Pezaisahunter
Oh wow just signed in too Pigeon Watch and I am well and truely alarmed at how many responces have been generated. Thankyou a great lot for all of your help! It seems that the majority of us are using the Rivers West Eider (which happens too be the most expensive!!!) Haha. But no seriously thankyou everyone for all of your valuable information.I shall look further into it and the best thing I can do is to try one on, whatever I go for! And in other news; 35 DAYS, 3 HOURS and 5 MINUTES TOO GOO!!!
