PandaMagee
Hi, I was looking at a Browning 525 at my local gunsmiths and the price tag was £900, roughly. As a newbie to the sport i was wondering if it was a bit pricey of a gun to have as a first shot gun? Any past experiences with this model or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks PM
HDAV
If it fits it's good I have a 525 they are good guns and hold value well!
PandaMagee
thanks, plus he said it was only about 1.5- 2 yrs old
shaun4860
Have a look at the serial number http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=32 will tell you how old it is, Its not a bad price if its that new, ive seen 425's go for that
HDAV
What spec? Barrel length? Multichoke? Etc but £900 is pretty good price
BerettaSV10
The 525 is a excellent gun for any one to have, as with any gun check it fits ok, as shaun says check the ser number for its date snd any signs of wear
PandaMagee
thanks folk, need to go down again an get this information.. he also said that the previous owner had already took the loss from new, cause it cost him £1500 or new (apparently)
onefulham
Sounds good, if is all as said, grab it, you could sell it on gun trader at no loss if you did not feel right with it, though I doubt you would want to , the 525 comes highly recommended. bigmcg
I bought a 525 a couple of weeks ago and I love it! If it fit's you right then grab it. They are brilliant guns.
Whitebridges
Very good guns, worth checking what grade it is. £900 for a grade 1 in good order is about right. They also do a grade called 525 Advance which i'm told is about grade 2. Grade 3 and upwards would fetch more money i would think.
PandaMagee
im not sure on the grading.. but its probably a G1
HDAV
Can't see it being anything but a GD1 at £900 but may be. 28" fixed choke or 30" multi or something else
bruno22rf
Just ordered a brand new B525 sporter-28" multi in LH for £1240 from the Sportsman gun centre-delivery from Belgium in 10 days .For £900 i.m guessing its a GD1 multi classic or field with the narrow rib and 30" tubes. If gun has no signs of damage it will be going strong long after you have shuffled off your mortal-only downer is the non auto safety and boring wood on the lower grades. That's basically £1000+ shipping and VAT! Nordic models are auto safe ( why you want an auto safety I don't know?) I paid £950 2 years ish ago for a 30" MC sporter LH stock that was 2 years old they don't loose much as you can see!

eastlincs
dereklee gun smiths sell them brand new for £1200 and they deliver to your local rfd and you get a free vest or jacket! lol just incase you could afford the extra.
PandaMagee
haha, don't think i can take myself to spend my entire savings on a new gun, maybe second hand is more of an 'investment' as they hold their value better than a new gun. HDAV
or try a miroku, same gun ! Different stock dimensions! If your an unemployed graduate don't forget carts and clays cost money ! Better a £100 baikal and 5000 carts than a £1000 browning and 5 carts!
