lurcherboy
One of my jills has a sticky eye although it doesn't seem to bother her. I can't get to see a vet before Tuesday so is there anything I can do to stop it getting worse? Much appreciated chaps. LB
new to the flock
When ever we get a litter of barn kittens with that problem we use boracic acid....available from the chemist and mixed with a bit of water as it is a powder.....cleans them right up. magman
LB are you using hay or straw , had a ferret lose an eye with hay see where im coming from?
Cranfield
I use a weak solution of salt water on cotton wool and wipe round the eye, not in the eye. Its best to check for damage to the eye, or serious swelling, but sticky eyes usually clear up in a few days. They seem to be susceptible to dust on new hay, or straw. markbivvy
I am using hay. that could be the reason for it. I use a weak solution of salt water on cotton wool and wipe round the eye, not in the eye. and this will be the cure.

Frank
Cold tea works wonders with cotton wool. Wipe around the eye, as Cranfeild says. Frank.
lurcherboy
Thanks chaps. Cranfield
I have always used straw with no problems, but hay can be "dirty", so I avoid using it.
