shoughton
It's impossible to watch it all day - they may be hitting it first or last thing in their feeding day. Also don't forget there's harvesting going on all over the place - so they are in a time of excitement with new food appearing everywhere. But I'm sure that they will find this wheat at some point - just keep watching! Edited August 16, 2012 by shoughton
luckytrigger
I have the same problem on my permissions. Think a lot of birds are still on the rape which seem a first choice for them. Plenty of rabbits though.
pigeon controller
Shooting birds on barley stubble last week some had clover in them , they were after moisture? With the hot weather they are feeding in the cooler parts of the day ie dawn and dusk.
yickdaz
they are on barley stubble mainly around us, a few rape stubbles being ignored in favour of it

Pigeons are unlikely to be there if there is nothing to eat.

Cranfield
I am finding that the birds are not staying long on the "old" stubbles very long, but seem to be almost following the combines. This week I have been shooting pigeons over decoys with the combine working on the same (big) fields. They are spoilt for choice at the moment, it is the time of plenty for them.
