Theskyfox Posted September 5, 2006 Report Share Posted September 5, 2006 Hi, I was just wondering, If when out on a legitimate shoot etc what sorta complaints and nusiances you guys have to put up with? The reason I ask is simply because I had a complaint recently when out shooting....basically I spent the day shooting pigeons/collared doves on a farm and I had left the bodies in a chicken box as the landowner was going to eat them. When I left, some foxes came in the night, broke into the box and ran off with the bodies.... and then proceeded to leave bits of them and remains all across the public moorland right over the back (a good 300/400 yards away from my actual shoot) Wasn't really my fault, I had no idea foxes were there and its where the landowner had asked me to put them...but some dog walkers had moaned as they had found some remains etc.... It doesnt appear anything serious and the landowner is still happy for me to shoot there, but anybody else had any similar experiences? Im gonna make sure the bodies are securely placed next time... -Andrew P.s. il cacciatore Posted September 5, 2006 Report Share Posted September 5, 2006 Ive not anything like foxes nicking my game but i have had a run in with antis, one time I was out decoying crows and an anti with his dog came out of nowhere and walked right through my pattern. Scared everything away. On one permission I have, every time I go there with my car the neighbour comes out his house with his two dogs barking not on leads to scare everything away. I had shot a rabbit and put it in a plastic bag to take away to gut, when I seen him I put it down to go over and explain that I was shooting for the farmer and he then said: what you got in that bag? Why did you put it down? Do you have permission? You got a licence for that gun? etc etc etc. I told him politely where to go. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Otherwise that thought does not spring to mind. I refuse to take loads of **** from the chavy antis at school. One idiot reckoned he was going to kill my ferrets because I kill wild rabbits. I told him they would rearange his plastic face if he hurt one hair on them and that is nothing compared to what someone his age could do... In fact on the golf course if they are not golfers they are to be considered trespassers and I have been given permission to escort them off the premises with threat of legal action. Guest jonrms Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 One of my shoots is on a priviate/buisness lands. the people come in and use the site for recreational purposes.. anyway the owner runs the buisness etc... and there are some antis there.. his view.. F8888 off to them.. as his buisness is more important than that customer. I have had a few members of this buisness come up to me and ask for a rabbit... as they enjoy eating them. but thats it.. really never had any complaints... al4x Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 I had a funny one last month. We'd shot a few rabbits with my HMR in a field at the back of some houses at night. Well away from the houses no problem there, the landowner is on the parish council and so it got brought up that do we have to do it. Well he said yes its normal vermin controll. They then went on to ask how we knew they were rabbits in the dark. He said from the glow of their eyes in the dark its easy to tell them. She said so they won't shoot my cat then. He relplied no its easy to tell the difference but harder to tell the difference between a fox and a cat, his wife kicked him under the table at that point Knowing he'd just had enough and was going to wind the woman up. young gun Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 I've had a few problems with antis and complaints there is someone who lives near me who has come up to me before and starting yelling and being very aggresive to me when i was out for a shoot, as i explained to him i had permission to be there and i was controlling rabbits for the landowner and then got the usual questions from him "is the gun licensed" etc, as i had the gun with me i just left but he came out the next time i was shooting and it started off all over again so i told him that i was shooting here, i am allowed to, i have insurance the gun is legally licensed and i have a certificate and I will continue to shoot here and so far i've had no problems from him again I also have a neighbour who we fell out with a while ago over a unrelated issue who used to continually phone the landowner to say we where shooting in his fields and despite him telling them we where allowed they would still phone everytime untill he politley asked them to never phone him again. they then phoned the police who turned up about 8 hours later so we told them where we where shooting and that we had permission and they checked our certificates the policeman just said he had 20 more important jobs to be doing and we where obviously not breaking the law and left. pin Posted September 6, 2006 Report Share Posted September 6, 2006 Over the years I have had this a lot, from simple enquiries about why I was there to people coming into the field and scaring away whatever it was I was shooting. Recently I have had people sit and watch me shoot pigeon through binocs, I am sure some of them are shooters too, but equally I am sure some of them are antis seeing what I am upto. The important thing to remember is there is no point arguing with these people. If you are asked a question it is polite to answer (permission / licence related). Other than that I just thank people for their time and move away. Experience shows me that the more you engage them the more they spoil it for you, ignore them and like a bored child they wander off to find something else to do. It is extremely important to sleeve / make safe the gun you are using as soon as you see someone like this, only continue when you are absolutely sure they have gone. I recieve a hell of a lot of abuse from antis that don't like my views and large amount of dead animal content on my site. I've already been deleted on there once, apparently it was because of hunting content but they refused to say what so I have just set my account up again with more dead things and anti bashing content than ever before. I recieve a hell of a lot of abuse from antis that don't like my views and large amount of dead animal content on my site. I've already been deleted on there once, apparently it was because of hunting content but they refused to say what so I have just set my account up again with more dead things and anti bashing content than ever before. My Bebo: HERE FM B) ferret master, bebo looks cool site shame about the abuse you get from antis, I would love to show every anti a rabbit with mixxi then ask them how they would rather die if they was the poor rabit , suffer for weeks with a disese like mixxie or 1 shot and its all over, I now how I would rather go m8. also if they could see the damage rabbits cause to hedge rows and trees undermining there roots untill they get blown down or the dyke banks they burrow in untill the dyke becomes blocked, or the live stock foxer kill just for the sake of it. if a fox had broken into there duck-chicken rabbit pen and killed them all B) dont get me wrong I love to be out in the country side seing wildlife, foxes-rabbits -hares- squirrels- pigeons, etc but what the antis fail to understand is they need controlling in sertain areas at sertain times. I wonder what reaction they would have to a bill for dredging a dyke out - replacing a hedge row - replacing live stick- or waking up to find there pets killed by a fox- or never seing a red squirrel again. most of them are hipacrits them selfs they will walk in dead animals on there feet(foot wear) they will eat dead animals( but dont see what there eating as animals), there are animal products extracts in all sorts of things - make up- lipstick- foods and drinks.
