Vince Green
Hi, NOBEL 80, is for PISTOL POWDER,, NOT for use in shotguns, Far TOO FAST. It would put pressures through the roof mate: Nobel SHOTGUN 80 is a shotgun powder, the clue is in the name. It can also be used for some low powered pistol loads like wadcutters and it was a good pistol powder and very popular because it went a very long way. which is where the confusion comes in I think. IMO it was the best shotgun powder ever made. I know there are others out there who would agree because they have told me so. Incidentally I still have a Nobel reloading manual which I have photocopied more than a few times for different people. The offer still stands if anybody needs a copy. Vince Green
Its funny It has developed a sort of near mythical status. It was a good powder but actually Green dot is very good as well. Its goes back to another time with fibre wads and 1 1/8th cartridges. Real ale, real bread and real cheese. Boots with leather sole etc Edited September 7, 2012 by Vince Green

I started using them in 1962 when they were 45pence a pound.

I have half a tin of 80 that has £7.50 label still on it. Thats my best example. Oh how I wish I had bought a few tins when I had the chance. Steel100
Vince, You are bringing back some old memories here, too! I used 80 for a long time in the shotgun and then used it in .45ACP and .38Spcl. Assuming that the OP has powder which has been properly stored and sealed it should be fine for it's intended use.
