oxfordfowler
Well I did a funny thing today. Am off for the first trip of the season on Sunday - so this morning I cleaned out the car and then packed it ready for Sunday morning. All my stuff is all ready, bag packed, waders, bank stick, coat ect ect. (no carts or gun) and in the back of the car . So now I'll be driving to work twice with the gear. OMG I must be desperate to go . Funny thing though the dog must have seen what I was doing, so she sat in the back of the car ready for the off for two hours this morning. The expression and attitude when I kicked her out as I went to work was a picture of misery - wish I'd had the camera. I'm sure she thought I was going without her. So who else has been ready far to early? OXF
Reabrook
I packed all my gear ready around the 21st Feb!! Hence not being able to find most of it come the 31st August!!
hedd-wyn
Mate I do the same when shooting crows! My decoys have been re-sprayed since Tuesday, car cleaned ect. Isn't preperation part of the fun though? I know when I arrive at the permission tomorrow that everything will be in place and there won't be any panic trying to get things done before sunrise. Plus tonight instead of packing, Il have the chance to guzzle down a few beers in front of the fire. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how you get on. Grandalf
If I did that to my dog, Merlyn, she'd have a heart attack. When I get the gear ready to go lamping she wont leave the truck - even for food! Fowling wise I also clean and pack everything ready in the backpack when the season finishes. Then, come the new season, I don't trust myself to have put everything in where it belongs so I always do it again. It is a ritual and is an important part of the anticipation and general excitement. 73 years old and I still get as excited as when I was in my twenties. Not been out yet but it is getting close - I like the migrants to be around before I start.
scolopax
Wake up, put kettle on, furiously look around for gear in shed etc and put into car whilst the tea is brewing, make flask, get gun out of cabinet, wake up dog (deaf), put all in car and drive to marsh now wishing I had got up half an hour earlier when the alarm went off for the first time. Prior preparation has never been a strong point of mine!
ayano3
Are you at shep's mate or have you forgot where your going lol. My stuff is all sorted the day before, its just final selection once I take a look at the weather. Carl, the young lad who comes with me is so organised he transfers all his gear to my car and leaves his gun behind !! Luckily he realised before we got too far otherwise he would have been a spectator.
Reabrook
I've gone without the gun before now!! Luckily never got to far without realising and managed to turn back. Best one was probably turning up for a vets appointment without the dog??
Yoggy
Better put the kettle on now then then Stu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Big Mat
I have my back packed and left on the table with the flask beside the kettle ready! When i open the gun cabinet i can hear the dog getting excited so i have to rush to get out before she wakes the house up! I ended up at sheps 20 minutes early because she was making soo much noise
