miroku moocher Posted October 11, 2012 Author Report Share Posted October 11, 2012 yes there is an extra few thousand jays up and down the country. 2 days ago a birdwatcher near me seen a flock of 26 flying about and last week a birdwatcher seen over 500 coming in off the sea at norfolk. so they seem wide spread . i would think they will clear up the acorns and beech mast before the woodies. I would think birds in general will have a tough time this winter. On the other hand they may thrive on all the uncut grain I see around. pintail Posted October 11, 2012 Report Share Posted October 11, 2012 have shot 3 jays in the last two trips out pigeon shooting, counted 17 jays fly across the pig farm on saturday im right on the east coast in Suffolk, so pehaps they are coming over the north sea in bigger numbers this year. A couple floated over bout 25 yards up without a care in the world, typical I didnt have a gun with me would have been a nice left and right.... hopefully!
