Why oh why do farmers think they have a god given right to destroy things that interfere with their businesses? Geese, baders, all sorts of other wild life from pollution from fertilizers, persticides, herbicides etc. etc.

Thats your opinion i take it your a keen country sportsmen? its all about keeping a balance and people like us are helping to do that . all farmers love their animals and land ,if we did not help them control vermin food would cost us a hell off a lot more at the shops , and baders has you go on about unfortunally cause TB in cattle which costs the tax payer millions and they make a big mess of farmers land. they need controlling simple . Nobody wants everything wiping out just balancing . May be you should try another sport mate like Knitting :good:

Will that include all the bad sports from down south who had nothing to say but a slagging for this post

Don't get yourself all lathered up.

A few geese in a bag is nothing. Look at what gets dumped on any farm in any day.

If you want to get all excited and angry on the internet, then knock yourself out, but the practicalities are:

1. it will change nothing

2. no laws of any consequence have been broken and I guarantee no one will go to prison - as exciting and outrageous as this sounds, this is "littering" (yea yea I know it's terrible and it's not something I do, but that's the facts of the situation)

3. a few geese in a bag being dumped is *nothing* in comparison to what gets dumped on any farm, on any day in any week - but I don't see anyone getting lathered up and all angry about that

The area in question is small, insular and it appears that everyone knows everyone elses business - they are best placed to sort this out I'm sure. In the meantime, the OP hand crafts another platform to have a pop at some Italians - again, I have no objection to that, I just don't think he should get all handbaggy when he gets called out on it.

Now then why am I not suprised that you rose to the bait. It would appear that you are the one getting lathered up. Is Essex not small and insular as well ?

If I am correct in understanding the 1st post it was to inform wildfowlers and others of dumping a large bag of 50 shot geese. Although in it self not a major act of law breaking it is a despicable act of possibly so called sportsman/wildfowlers, who have no care for the sport and dump what they have shoot. How would the southern eastern England wildfowlers react if a large bag of 50 fowl or game was found dumped and announced on a local radio station and published in a local rag.

Regarding the OP being handbaggy about the Itialans maby he has a reason for it. After all it was the Itialans who linked some of the Islands together and built a chapel. (But you knew that anaway didnt you)

Mungler you seem to miss the whole point of this thread. Nobody should shoot wildfowl or any other game and then dump them. Its against the very morals of the sport. Before you shoot a goose you should have a home for it on your own or someone elses table. If there was a good reason to dispose of the birds , ie they had gone off in a chiller , then they should be disposed of properly not chucked into a field.

Actions like this may come back and haunt us all if the antis make propergander from it no matter what part of the country it happens.

As for the Italian question you obviously do not have them shooting in your area or you would know the problems many of them cause.

Seriously, it's not difficult, I get the no dumping thing - I don't do it, but it happens, the police don't give a monkeys and there's a lot worse dumping going on on farms.

The only publicity this matter has is the meal being made out of it on here.

Pole star has a morbid hatred of Italian shooters - have a read and learn a bit of the history.

Had nothing been written on this forum about this isolated geese find then the only people to know about it would be about 18 people in the Orkney islands... who are a little bit insular. Yes this is big news for them, but it's not really - just last week on the farm I shoot a "group of people" dumped a dead cob horse in a ditch, about 200 cannabis plant bulbs were dumped in a gateway along with the usual two or three loads of asbestos.

On the mainland the police will have much better things to do, and adding perspective to the incident.... well... leave it to the locals to get themselves into a lather. They will bother the main land police, there will be 10 pages of Polestar having a pop at the Italians and then when it gets to the CPS on the mainland they will laugh their backsides off and do something more important and nothing will happen. That's about it.

Let me make some thing clear to you pussy cat ! & your troll mates on here

1 . I do not have a hatred of Italian shooters & note I have shot with some fine Italians ! . I hope that is clear .

2. I do have a hatred of CRETINS who the 1981 wildlife & countryside act means nothing ! .

3. Who said this goose dumping was being looked into by the Orkney Police ?

4. Up here we have a problem cretins from all over not just a small handfull so called guides from the boot shaped country .

5. HAS THAT SUNK INTO YOUR BRAIN ?

6. Have a nice day Pussy Cat ! Kind regards Pole Star .

I have just returned from wild fowling in Orkney, during the time I was there I was told by a local farmer that shot geese had just been found dumped at Evie.I dont know how many ! He just said that it has happend again,

This action is very damageing to the wildfowling section ,and land owners may have second thoughts about DIY wildfowlers and only alow goose guides access to their land, (£40+ a flight per person and you stand here thank you very much).

Local people will be only too pleased to take any surplus geese wihout them going to waste,.put a smile on someones face !

Kind regards Rokey

Good to see you have been up here Rokey unlike some of the so called experts who on here who believe we don't even have radio up here in Orkney ! just goes to show what experts they are  perhaps you can tell em we also have an airport which good sized airliners can fly from & while you are at it tell em that more than 20,000 people live here & we don't walk about in Polar Bear skins hunting seals & eating spit roast Italian ! .

As for the locals wanting to take the geese I am afraid you got it wrong on that one ! the local shooters shoot a lot of geese here & disposing of the surplus can be a problem ! Some of us are always happy to give any extra's to visiting fowlers , the other option is to brest them out & freeze them for dog meat or for one own use .

The truth is some people just don't like wild goose ! & some don't even like tame geese as for ways to cook them ? best look through PW & see some of the recipe's & the best one I like is the one put on by aister from Shetland take look & try it , its very good & if you make a big pot of it its even taste's even better on the 2nd day . :good:

Good Luck Pole Star

Come on then Pole Star...what's the verdict :hmm:

Did they get deported or sentenced to hard labour or was the case of the century thrown out for lack of evidence :innocent:;)

Azzurri

Well Azzurrri I can let you in on a bit & just a snip as there are on going things within the courts so if the information is a bit vague I am sorry but you should understand ? . The RSPB case with the Italians seems to be an ongoing one so there is nothing I can tell you on that one but as soon as it hits the local paper I can let you know & I wish the RSPB the best of luck ! :good: .

PS & in my own case I was found not guilty which has left a major problem for two persons from the boot shaped country in the med :good: .

Ok Gentlemen this went away a bit from the topic of goose dumping but just to let those of you on here that know the truth of what has been going on I can tell you that the Orkney Police returned all my firearms & amo last night & my trusty double 8bore which I have missed for so long .

We will have to wait & see how the RSPB case will go with the Italian guides ect & it will have to go in a new post at some stage as this one is about the crime of goose dumping which brings wildfowlers bad press even if a cat in Essex don't care ! . Look out for a new post at some time & many thanks for the worth while comments .

Off out with my 8 bore this eve . Atb Pole star .
