Imperfection
so why do full anal glands cause the dog to scratch. just curious as my dog constantly nibbles her feet and cant find a cause Paw chewing is often a sign of food allergies. My sis has two Boxers which both have a poultry allergy which when fed make them chew their paws amongst other things.Try feeding your dog on a lamb based diet for a month and see if theres an improvement, but do check whatever brand you choose hasnt hidden poultry in its ingredients. This is the food she feeds hers which appears to keep the allergies under control http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/products/supadog/adult-dog-british-lamb-and-rice.html
paddywack12
Dont need to go to vets as my Mum does my dogs anal glands when required. Just uses a bit of kitchen roll. Laughs at us all gagging and says "stuff and nonsense"
Thelongwayup
I took our old collie once for his anal glands doing. Vet asked me to hold the dog still as he may squirm about....Never warned me about the horrific stench. I retch quite easily with some bad smells but holy jesus! I wasn't ready for the odour that kicked ten shades out of my nostrils and turned my stomach inside out. I left the vet with his fingers deep and dashed outside and emptied my dinner on the path by the door via my mouth and nose.
