bi9johnny
i have decided to have a play with some new guns over the next couple of months, i shoot mainly rabbits, crows, magpies, fox and i have the usual calibre rifles as in 2x .22lr and .17hmr, .223 .243..... now is there any other popular calibre's that you guys use and why, plus what is the economics of using other calibre's i.e. ammo price regards john
al4x
anything you go to from there will cost you more, the only possibly one that might interest me in between would be a 20cal centerfire but really it would only be out of curiosity
Dekers
As al4x, maybe the .20 or indeed the .17/.22Hornet, I never even consider the 17 Remington but if you want to play then perhaps. I don't see any point/need in getting bigger than the .243 you already have. What do you want to do with it?
bi9johnny
sorry did not explain myself properly ......am looking at calibre's smaller than 243 or even 223 atb john
steve_b_wales
I would go for a .17REM. That will be my next rifle sometime next year.
al4x
I'd take your 22-250 over one any day steve
kyska
I would go for a .17REM. That will be my next rifle sometime next year. Me too, I really really like the sounds of them.
jam1e
What about the .204 Ruger? Nice, flat, and sooo fast! And without a doubt better than the .17 Hornet!
steve_b_wales
I'd take your 22-250 over one any day steve That's the problem. I love the 22-250, very fast and flat shooting. I don't use it that much, probably only fired 20 rounds in the past year, as my .243 is what I mainly use for foxes. I won't be selling it though. I like the ballistics of the .17REM, and would only use it for long range corvid/vermin shooting. Convincing my police authority that I 'need' another rifle is another issue!
