new to the flock
If I have this corect you are allowed to protect your crops as a farmer. If you have a large population of pigeons on your planted crops you are protecting your crops while shooting. If you have harvested your crop and your field is being worked over by a large population of pigeons, and you shoot them.....then you are still protecting your crop as the waste grain, stubble, and young plants coming up are all part of your green manure crop to be disced in to rejuvinate the soil which in turn supplies the nutrients to your next planting in the spring. Therefore shoot the theiving little ******* and save the farmers manure NTTF
henry d
A woodpigeon is an agricultural pest and all non-lethal methods have been tried and found wanting, therefore pigeon shooters shoot all year round. It matters not that the pigeon is not attacking a crop at that time as you are preventing it(permanently)from doing so.........ie.PEST CONTROL. Furthermore I am allowed, according to my FA certificate,to shoot ANYanimal to protect human life.So I don`t have to wait for a bull to gore someone I can PREVENT IT

A bull looking scary, doesn't mean you can shoot it...................or do you have some more strange laws in Scotland ?

Maybe not Cranfield, but I do know that when the Cops wake you up at 3:30 in the morning and make you follow them up to where they have pinned your 3 year old red angus bull up against a fence at the side of the highway..... and the bull is starting to take the 3rd cruiser apart....they dont say much when you reach behind the seat of the truck and pull the 303 out and shoot the SOB. Dad on the other hand had plenty to say :o :o NTTF

Highlander
Read the general licence and tell me where it says the pest species it refers to have to actually be doing the damage at the time you shot them. It doesn't. Also the licence isn't confined to crop damage but also includes the spreading of disease, damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber, fisheries or inland waters. But nowhere does it state that the birds listed have to be diseased etc. So stop talking and get shooting!
