Rich_H
Apologies if this has been covered a dozen times before. I'm after recommendations for a place to buy my first shotgun, preferably within an hours drive from central Birmingham. I'm after a used o/u sporter with a budget of around £600 so am thinking Lanber or Miroku but knowing very little about gun fit will need honest advice when buying. Ideally I'd like to try the gun before I buy also. So, anybody got some names for me?

Rich_H
Good stuff, thanks gents. I'll be busy over Christmas by the looks of it. Just looked up Hodnet on google maps, it's showing as 1hr 1min away. I'm sure I can do better than that as the fifty four usually gives a clean run.. @ Jam1e - I did call into Sandwell Field Sports on a lunch break last week as I work in West Brom. I think I must have given the wrong impression as I was only shown new guns, I'll go back and see what they have in the used section. Olliesims
Sandwell field sports and shooting supplies had a rifle from each and picked them both up for a good price, shooting supplies has a decent gun selection, but have found some staff don't have a clue what there on about Edited December 17, 2012 by Olliesims

Rich_H
Ok, seems there's plenty of choice which is good. A few people have mentioned getting a good price, does that mean it's accepted that buyers are going to haggle? I might be a bit cagey about telling them what I'm thinking of spending if that's the case.
HDAV
its a tricky one go in with a budget of 50p and there wont be much for you too look at, either go looking for a specific gun or in general and let them try and sell you a gun. YOu have no obligation to buy I found doing some research ringing to se what they had in stock (its amazing how out of date their websites and guntrader adverts are!) Rich_H
Yeah I can see how it could be tricky. If I go in with an interest in something specific I don't know if that's the best gun for me but if I go in and say "show me what you got" then I have to have faith that they're going to do the right thing rather than just get the most cash they can out of me. Suck it and see I suppose.

Suck it and see I suppose. When i deal with Sandwell Shooting Supplies i always try and get hold of "Tony". You can't mistake him as he's tall well built and has hair like Worzel Gummage! He's been as straight as a die in the past. Twice he's told me they don't have the best model of an item i need in stock. And rather than sell me the nearest to it, he advised me to wait until they do or go elsewhere. I was shocked to be fair! Top bloke! Heres a you tube video of the shop and Tony Edited December 17, 2012 by jam1e
