Mikkel
Hi everyone I have had a great season with a 84% return of released mallards and a 40% return of pheasants. I still have two shootdays with cockbirds coming up so that should be giving a even better result. How was your season? Happy holidays :-)
al4x
We're up to 62% on pheasants and had a good year. One day to go but we've passed out expectations with the amount we are feeding still I have a feeling our last day might be reasonable as well. Cant comment on returns but wild mallard numbers have been very poor and im nay sure if its a lack of or because of the amount of water has given them too many options. Alycidon
Ducks usually give a high return, I am looking at 40% probably, 3 days to go yet including beaters day. A
Mikkel
Our 40% return of pheasants is done by only four days of shooting :-) Before me and my mate took over this syndicate the return was about 15%! The bloke who use to run it was obviously not doing a good job :-)
al4x
That is amazing :-) I wouldn't necessarily say amazing, it has been hard work but has been helped by us not putting too many down and having neighbours who do put a lot down. However we worked on the basics with a knowledge of what the last syndicate did on the same land, they struggled for 40% we have a shoot where put too many down and you simply loose them as its not large enough and has too many people about so our first year we put down 275 and have shot 44 49 and 63 had 3 very nice days out all the guns had enough shooting and we are still getting through 100kgs of wheat a week so there are a fair few left. By the time we have beaters day and a couple of walked up days it will be plenty of sport for the year for a fairly small financial outlay. The last syndicate tried with 1250 birds lost most of them and had unhappy guns each season as the returns were poor so it all comes down to expectations.
