born_2_kill
So shot 25 rounds through my new gun and under the first clean and oiling I noticed a mark down (inside) the barrel when I inspected them which looks related to the welding of the barrel fixing ring on the outside as show in the diagram, the red line shows the location and size of the mark inside. Do you have the same mark in the same area of yours? It looks like a ding or corrosion found on an older gun, but its not old enough nor have I dinged it, any ideas? bedwards1966
My Hatsan barrel has a mark like this, as does my fathers. It's still smooth, and it's a tiny change to the bore which is only visible because of how the light reflects off perfectly smooth surfaces. Quite normal and not as big as it appears. bruno22rf
"Inside" the barrel where your pointer indicates is where the gas transfer holes are-they operater the piston to cycle the next shell.
bedwards1966
Are they Not the gas holes ? "Inside" the barrel where your pointer indicates is where the gas transfer holes are-they operater the piston to cycle the next shell. My pump action has a mark where the mag tube ring is fixed on, which is what I think is being described? A slight distortion of the barrel, enough to throw the light reflecting on it. Albert 888
Some say wd40 lifts soilder ,which i belive on poor quility soildering job could happen as its a penatrant. Some use nothing but others wont touch it.I dont use on the barrelsn but use on other parts. I took my first auto to a gunsmith as i thought the holes in the barrels wernt supposed to be thier, and the nice fellow without laughing explained how they worked.I did feel a right numpty, but beter safe than sorry.
