Gunneravi
Hi all. Thinking of picking up a hatsan semi 3" chambered for wildfowling and decoying pigeons etc. I have heard conflicting views on these and wanted some opinions, so............. Are they any good??? Cheers!
gazzthompson
People will love them, or they will hate them. I have one, i keep it clean and it works fine, fully recommend (especially for the price).
Gunneravi
That's the thing they are really well priced. I read somewhere the 3 1/2 " chambers won't cycle properly with lighter loads?

I have one, i keep it clean and it works fine, fully recommend (especially for the price). As above I had one,may have been lucky but it gave no bother & even had a nice trigger! Only parted with it because I prefer a non-ejector O/U : too much bother finding ejected carts in nettle beds.
stubby
keep your carts over 67mm long and should not have a problem
Gunneravi
Do you think a 3" or a 3 1/2" would be the better option? Edited December 27, 2012 by Gunneravi
Maidment78
I have one and love it, it does what it is meant too, goes bang and pigeons fall from sky. Never going to win a prize for beauty but then at the price you pay who really cares???
BerettaSV10
Do you think a 3" or a 3 1/2" would be the better option? Unless you have the need to use 3 1/2" cartrides the 3" version is better if you want to shoot clays as well, because as mentioned above the 3 1/2" prefers heavier load cartridges. 70 mm length cartrides are the best to use, though I put 250 67 mm cartrisdes through mine and had 1 jam. Anonymouslemming
I've put 192 cartridges through mine so far and it's fine. I've had one misfire but that may have been the cartridge, and no jams yet. I think as long as you get a more recent model, you'll be fine. gazzthompson
As above, use 70mm! i use cheap 7.5 24g and it works fine.
bicykillgaz
I've owned two hatsan semi's and now got a hatsan pump, I've never had any issues with them other than the odd jam on short cartridges but as everyone has said use 67/70mm shells and you'll be fine. I'd take a look at the field hunter pump actions not sure if they do them in 31/2" but if they do it would solve the issue of using short shells. alros01
I've never had one but I know some one who has one and loves his the old guns get a bit of a slating but when I was last at the gun shop he had some new ones in and he said to me that hatsan have changed all the internals there is no o ring any more so it might be worth a look at I've read a lot of reviews on this gun and everyone says how accurate it is for the price
