I've worked with Ian in international clay shooting administration for GB for nearly twenty years and know just how hard and passionately he's worked over the years for the sport he loves.

He recognised from the moment the ISSF introduced the Double Trap discipline back in the early 90's that GB could be successful at it. Not only under his guidance has GB won two Olympic gold medals but Commonwealth Games success too.

I think his MBE is well deserved and a triumph for the back room boys not often in the limelight.

UK Sport funding is performance based and reviewed six monthly. Those athletes who are selected are expected to maintain the performance that got them there in the first place, those that don't are removed unless there is a very good reason, such as injury. There is a panel that review performance and Ian Coley isn't on it, IIRC.

After a positive start a few interesting comments. I have PM`ed those who potentially have had a less than positive experience of Ian Coley`s. As any business would like to understand both positive and negative customer feedback, always willing to right a wrong if there has been one.

In reference to Ian dropping Pete, I would like to make comment for the record. Ian has never dropped Pete. Pete was originally spotted by Ian some 6 years ago, by chance and from that point, very similar to Richard Faulds, he mentored and coached Pete. Pete had the opportunity to work with another coach and this relationship formed where Pete had two coaches working with him, his one coach being the current Gold Medal winner and offering coaching and warm weather training - so Pete trained abraod and in the UK at Ian Coley`s plus Southern Counties and Bisley - if you were to see comments from Pete you will see how the relationship has worked and actually the results speak for themselves. I might be biased, but shooting owes a debt of gratitude to get the positive spotlight for both the gold that Pete won and the gold that Richard one - none of the positive press received since August 2nd would have happened without it - to see a clay shooter on the TV, watched by over 5m people on Superstars and the endless promotion.

Phil,

I think Pete is a credit to the sport. He comes across very well every time I've seen him on tv and seems to be a genuinely good bloke.

I must admit I've been in your old shop a few times and never seemed very welcome for some reason. I think due to its location you probably had a few time wasters but you don't know unless you talk to people.

I've been to your new place and its very different. Friendly helpful staff, nice shop and a good shooting ground.

I know I'm not the only one who felt the same about your old shop but I would advise people to give the new place a chance.

All the best

Harry

Thanks Harry for your comments, progress is sometimes never easy. But we certainly feel the new premises are there for all to enjoy. Phil
