What did the insurance people have to say about it? did it affect the price of the policy at all? I don't see why it should - having a bottle doesn't seem like it'd make you any more liable to crash - but they do like to charge for anything random these days!

I do display one... only because if i have a accident with it present in the car, i would rather the emergency services resucing me know thats its there.

I paid a couple of quid for mine and its magnetic.

where did you get it from mate?

I have one of the magnetic signs but remember that if the cylinder isnt in the car you shouldnt display it and also unless its above a certain volume then you dont leagally need to display one either (which i have been told is way above that of an air rifle / diving bottle or medical CD size cylinder, but worth checking out with the insurance company to !

As a private individual there is no requirement to have a diamond sticker on a vehicle - the law applies to businesses only. Nothing says that anyone can't use an appropriate diamond symbol on a vehicle though.

If you do use a sticker (which as noted by others, might be appreciated by the fire service in the event of an accident) you need to be certain to remove or cover the sticker when NOT transporting compressed air as they certainly won't appreciate that - and that is the real problem for private individuals - it's all too easy to forget to take it off.

The threshold limit referred to by Matt is I believe 1000 litres of compressed air (still only really of interest to businesses because above that they have to follow further rules).

When I was doing some SCUBA diving, too many years ago now, the commonly held view was don't and I think that remains the case.
