Decent kites

Hi all, little lads 6th birthday next month and I thought it would be nice to get him a decent kite to encourage getting fresh air and father-son bonding :good:

Haven't owned a kite for years so no idea what is on the market that is any cop so can anyone suggest makes/models that I could look at.

Don't want to spend too much on it but want something that will fly well, easily controllable by a small boy and not disintegrate the first time it hits the ground.

Ta :)

we have the Classic Diamond Rainbow Kite and Box Kite No.2

from http://www.skyhighkites.co.uk/

very good - easy to fly and very hard wearing

My daughter is only 3.5 and we play with them together, she loves them - they are single line kites rather than stunt ones so fairly basic

Thanks Nick, quite like the look of the HQ BeeBop stunt kites :good:

i have a smaller 2 metre flexifoil now but that can still drag me around with my heels dug into the beach lol great fun :)

Stunt kites are good fun much better than single string, surprising how much power they can generate.

Don't forget we are talking about kites for a 6 year old. Start with a decent single string and work up, it's the equivalent of an air rifle, compared to a .308 / flexifoil!

ha ha yeah your spot on there Beardo, a small quad line would be fine on a decent day though i know my young nephew has flown one of the local kite clubs 1.2metre foils with no dramas

i have something your lad might like, it's a half size stunt kite, bought it for my grandson who's not really interested. it needs a lot of wind but it's good quality, pm me your address and i'll post it up/down/across soon as i get it out the loft.

flexifoils are ok, but you might get bored soon flying a matress about.
