fortune
Looking for an informal clay ground in between Brecon beacons and Snowdonia area for son in law to be fun day. Sometime in June. Just a few lads some never shot before so nothing competetive or too serious. just for fun. Whats out there?

eccles
Dovey valley shooting ground has a very good sporting lay out. It is on my wife's uncles land i'm only 5 min away give me a bell if you are going there will meet you. Mid wales shooting ground is another good ground with a sporting DTL etc with a good selection of guns and rifles etc for sale.
Brown Sauce
Griffin Lloyd is also very good, http://www.griffinlloyd.co.uk/ from nice easy birds, to darn right almost impossibly fast midi incomers.
fortune
Thank for the helpful replies. It's early days yet and nothing is cast in stone. It's a bit of a stag weekend sort of thing. Some do shoot but some don't know which end to put to shoulder (Office admin types) so it just needs a really easy no total pea taking session. just so that there is a bit of fun and maybe smash a few also. some might get hooked. fortune
Thanks to the advice from Eccles We had a fantastic shoot at the Mid Wales Shooting ground ground and the lads were glowing in their praise for the whole setup from the friendly reception to the marvelous layout. The sun shone but it wasn't to hot and We shot about 400 clays whilst we were there. No hassle or rush I cant speak highly enough about the place. I wish that we could tow this shoot down near us. fortune
I dont know anything about Dovey Valley because when we rang them up they said that they couldn't accomodate us ?? This was for 5 of us to just shoot a bit of non competitive sporting on a Friday afternoon ??. So we rang up Mid Wales Shooting Ground and they said "come on down". They were so welcoming and friendly to us. we went to the shop and signed in and there were so many traps and layouts available which were all remote control that you would need hundreds of shooters there to not be able to shoot in ease without feeling herded along by other shooters. When we came to pay our dues at the end we were amazed at how cheap it was to shoot there. We traveled up for the weekend in Wales from kent and so didn't get there until mid late afternoon so we shot 400 birds (you just shoot what you want on what stands you want) and by this time it was heading for 5 O'clock so we called a halt to it. BUT, if we had gotten there earlier and realised how cheap it was to shoot there we would have shot a load more birds than we did. Everyone in our group was glowing when we left there and all said a 100% to shooting there again. Dovey's loss was their gain in this instance and Mid Wales definately get a BIG BIG Thumbs up for what they are and the fun experience that we had there.
