liam8223
Last night, around 10pm a smallish vixen came within 1 ft of my patio door, we had lights on etc. I flicked the light off to watch her outside and she was brazen as anything, all that finally scared her was my collies going mental at the door.. What would be peoples recommendations for getting her to within shotgun range? 50g BB!? We have laying hens and ducks and geese, I can do without a hungry fox! Liam. Big Mat
If its 30 yards or less, whatever cartridge you can grab when you get the gun out of the cabinet will do the job!

Big Mat
Personally i wouldnt bother trying to get it to come in close. I'd make sure the ducks/chickens/geese are secure and the pen is fox proof. Then if it still showed signs of interest i'd shoot it, but only if it came into range and i could get the gun quick enough. I keep chickens/ducks/goats so i know the problem well! Archie-fox
22 rimfire or 17hmr head shot at 20/30 yards will do the trick and not wake up the whole neighbour hood...bait the patio with cat food for a few days at the same time after a few nights then dispatch it....to be honest tho I would only do it if it was after my chickens if not just leave it to mooch about... Kes
Borrow a fox trap, bait it with a rabbit and go to bed - I've tried waiting.

al4x
Just feed it in a convenient spot for a few days with a trail cam watching, get an idea of time then sit up for it with a .22 or Hmr job done
njc110381
If it gets that close to the house just open the door and shoot it! It isn't going to run 30 yards in the time it takes to get a bead on it and if you're standing you'll get it in the back of the head rather than the texas heart.
