syborg
Ah I get ya... Well now the big decision... Do I strip all the moving parts before taking it to the plod shop and what amount of the gun is required to be handed in to get it officially scrapped. Scully
Good question;it grieves me to scrap any gun,but if it's absolutely unsafe then I suppose there's no choice. If there are any salvageable parts which don't constitute a 'firearm' as such, then remove them.Your RFD could advise,or may even be able to make use of some parts.Handing in to the Police has to be a last resort in my opinion. Andy H
Strip all the pins ,springs etc and just hand in the barrel and stripped action the bit with the serial number. Edited February 24, 2013 by Andy H

syborg
And apparenty some rfd charge 25 quid to scrap guns and to be honest I'd rather give it to police and get it officially written off just to keep the old Bill happy. simjakcal
just hand it in as it is,,at ur local police station or to ur fao,,make sure you get some paper work off them though as proof youve handed it in...
Underdog
A severe dose of muppetry by someone! I have handed such guns in before to the police. When asked why I just say it is no longer safe. Don't expect it to take a few minutes! It takes them ages to find the forms! U.

Pigeon_snIPer
Cant the chamber be rebored and then resleeved to accommodate a 410 cart? /S
syborg
I've no idea pigeonsniper, but the costs and reproofing would be more than the gun is worth. Just the reamer to cut the forcing cone in the chamber is best part of £100.

goosegun
Yes, that .410 of yours has been messed with,, I have a .410 of belgian manufacture and the only "step" is indeed 77mm ,,..and the chamber running up to that step is as smooth as a baby"s bum...So i would get that checked out m8... Do not fire it ..Let us know how you get on... Best regards ,
jackinbox99
I didnt think having it deact`d cost that much, i seem to have thought he figure was about 50quid for some reason. Ive seen a lot of dealers selling de-act`d shotguns for £100, so if it costs more than that then they must be making a loss. If you do scrap it, id sell the stock on ebay, these .410 "poacher" guns very often have damaged stocks, so a good one on ebay can fetch £25 alone!!! deershooter
How about having a chamber sleeve fitted if you are not selling it it would not need profing Deershooter

syborg
I'm just going by local smiths. They split the barrels up the to the foregrip, remove pins and weld up holes and plug the barrels up. So I've heard
syborg
I've been talking to a tool maker and he can machine a new chamber for me. I myself am a tool maker but no longer have the equipment..:(
