Spaniel
Anyone ever had ago at making a slip lead or lanyard. Just after some advise if possible please Cheers
Big Mat
I've made plenty of both. Simplest way i found with a slip lead was to get a length of suitable rope, make a hand loop and splice it in, and then put heat shrink over the top of the join. Cut a rubber disk bigger than the ring you intend on using and put that on, put some heat shrink on the rope ready to put over the next join. Then put the ring on and splice it so its inside a small loop like the hand loop, then bring the heat shrink down and put it over the splice. Then you just take the hand loop and put it through the ring, and you have a slip lead. I don't know what a suitable rope is though, i've used some blue polypropelene rope most of the time, but they are always emergency leads. Have a look here for lanyards http://www.instructa...om/id/Paracord/ EDIT: I'd do a thread with my guide on making slip leads at some point when i get some suitable rope in! scotslad
Where do u get the round metal ring's for the bottom of dog leads? I always have a load of polyprop dog leads lying about for emergancies althou i tend to use them all the time now, but i don't like the way they slide, i don't think they come slack enough quick enough. Mines are nothing fancy just a figure of 8 for handle and a running bowline at other end, nowt fancy but do the job would be better with a metal ring thou. Some nice knot work above fergie, is that thinish (guesssing 6ish mm ) paracord that u have braided yourself. Bet there quite hard wearing Edited March 4, 2013 by scotslad
