welsh1
My neighbour keeps half a dozen chickens at the bottom of his garden, and his neighbour has a pigeon loft,so it is inevitable that rats aren't to far away, and for the last week my dog has been going mental at various times of the day, usually it is the fox that casually strolls past in the field, but this was something else,a cat maybe?or another dog in the field?well the problem was solved when i moved the incinerator at the bottom of the garden, and there was a hole under the storage shed, and a little run with those tell tale droppings OMG RATS, and my dad who was visiting at the time suggested the dog was hearing the rats squeaking. So large little nipper deployed, what bait to use?bread and butter would come off if it rained and i needed something made of sterner stuff,Mars bar it was then. Deployed the trap friday and expected nothing for a good few days, but today the dog wasn't barking so much so i checked it 20 minutes ago,and result one down who knows how many to go,the mars bar had been eaten so he has mates. Was thinking of getting this one stuffed as he has a fine pelt on him.

halight
I hate rats, I keep chickens myself. Iv never had a big problem with rats. but they do turn up from time to time. Last year my Mum and and the lady who lives next door to her, Both had to stop feeding the wild birds because of Rats. My Dad got the problem under control in the end. caeser
Result there, but I would be tempted to put the trap out again, just in case there's more. When I found that we had a rat in the garden, I ended up catching 4 of them, over a few days.(using the same trap, coincidently.)
kennett
Definately worth setting the trap again!I realised i had a "few" rats in the chickens, shot 5/6 and had a few in Fenn traps, when I finally resorted to poison they ate a whole bucket in a week before they went quiet! Will leave the traps down for a good while yet, his mates will be around. Don't want to use poison as i had to put next doors cat out of it's misery at 6am one morning as it was in muscle spasm and frothing at the mouth, poor thing was in agony after eating poison. Will give the rats a treat of a bit of fish on the weekend they will love it.
