TIGHTCHOKE
I took Old Timer (Darren) out on to one of my permissions today. The birds came every now and then and we got some shooting after the fog cleared. Darrens Hide; Darren tidying his pattern; The right hand side of my decoy pattern; One of the birds I shot crunched in to a large Hawthorn tree about 15 feet up and had to be knocked down with a bouncer. A slow day with some reasonable responses from the pigeons that committed to the patterns. Edited March 6, 2013 by TIGHTCHOKE
Bluebarrels
Good pics but wheres the" final bag picture",how many did you shoot? BB
TIGHTCHOKE
I shot 12 and a jackdaw and I'm not sure how many my guest shot. We packed up when it went quiet and I never thought about taking a picture of the bag! I will take the camera tomorrow rather than the phone! contrysports
don't know if it's the picture but it looks like you have some of your decoys rarther high of the ground can i ask why this is? is it to simply add more movement to the pattern? TIGHTCHOKE
Yes! I made the banding strips to support the decoys several years ago whilst employed by the Queen. I decided to make them tall enough to cope with crops up to about 12 inches high and on a bare field they do look odd, but the pigeons don't seem to notice. I also made 24 longer ones for when the crops are taller in the summer.

lakeside1000
Well done, some good pics, its always nice when you can drive to the edge of your chosen area and not have to drag a ton of kit across a ploughed field, its even more important as you get on in years , not much point in going if your so knackered when you get there you have to sit down for a rest before you can even set up. Some of us like to have a rest even when we drive up to where we are going to set up..
