mrikirkby
I mainly Shoot pigeons and never bothered with crows but started to see a few the other day but boy are they scittish ! I have got a couple of deeks i sometimes chuck while pigeon shooting. Is there any thing else i can do to tempt these in range apart from make myself invisible ?? Are the principals the same as pigeon as far as Decoys go ??
lakeside1000
A flapper works well with half a dozen good decoys and a good crow caller, but they have a lot better eyesight than pigeons so you have to get well hidden and dont move till the last second, they will come in real close if you get it right,
hedd-wyn
A dead rabbit with it's guts out is a good way of bringing them in. I've managed decent bags with a few decoys only and then adding to the pattern with dead birds. This time of year isn't the best to be honest (round my permissions anyway) They have much better eyesight than pigeon so getting setup before sunlight with a really good hide is essential, full camo and no movement. My father in law uses a bird of prey decoy and reckons that method is just as good.

hedd-wyn
WelsAndy off here ordered a hand made one from a guy from Belgium and to be honest it's the dog's ********. Even though the Primos caller will do the trick if you're serious about crow shooting then it's well worth investing in the one Andy bought. I've owned the acme one and to be honest a mimic call with my voice box would've done a better job (although fine for jackdaws) This is it mate. fabarm gamma boy
If you mean the sam neyt call i must say imho its nowhere near as good or versatile as the primos caller! I shoot shed loads of crows over decoys each year and iv tried and tested allsorts in doing so! I can call crows rooks and jackdaws with the primos but the sam neyt is rubbish for geting the higher notes that corvids use to comunicate (especialy jackdaws)with each other whilst socializing so to speak! Primos wins every time for me
WelshAndy
I haven't used the 'primos' so can't comment on that, what I can say is that the Sam Neyt caller is in my opinion the best and easiest crow caller on the market and is guaranteed for life! If you drop it stand on it even if your dog chews it Sam will replace it! Yes it's twice the price of the primos, I was lucky and bought mine off ebay France for nearly the same money as the primos. A good caller will defiantly increase your bag size

True, it has good sounds, but the Primos Power Crow caller does all that it does, and more. Having used the Primos, I could tell, as soon as I tried the Sam Neyt one, that the Primos was equally as good. It cost's a third of the price of a 'SN' one. I sold the Sam Neyt one the very next day. The ACME caller is more suited to calling in Jackdaw's, but does work if used correctly.
hedd-wyn
Mrs Hedd's nagging can be compared to a distraught crow. Never thought I'd say this, but I might bring her with me next time I'm shooting crows

I too was caught out by samm's caller, yes it looks great, yes its hand made, yes it makes a sound like donald duck when blown, having paid £35 you then look on utube and learn you cant blow into it like normal people would, but need to use air in your belly a primos,@around £15 may look plasticy, it may not be hand made, but on opening up the packaging, and blowing as any normal person would, it works straight away, the crow sound is amazing, repeated blowing as per instructions whilst I stood in a car park in town, and within minutes had 20 plus crows overhead
