evo
davyo, if you are not filling the lcd screen mate then change your lens to a 16mm, you will find it will then fill the whole of the lcd screen, I had this problem with a couple of scopes and the only way it could be solved was by increasing the size of the lens from 12mm to 16mm . also when you order one try and get an f2 because when using the f2 your crosshairs are always in focus when you change the mag on the scope, told you how good it would be, nice one cant wait to see a pic of your finished kit, any help needed give me a shout atb BOB ps, don't worry of the lens you have ordered is f1.2 its just that I,m a fussy sod lol Edited August 24, 2013 by evo
Davyo
Thanks Bob, i will check my order, I will tell you one strange encounter during my build.I normally use reading glass when tinkering on, but my long vision is ok.When i look through my scope naturally i have no issued with the cross hairs(no glasses),however when i look at the cross hairs on a monitor they are hazy.Putting my readers on resolves this & bit of a pain by hey ho. This set up has worked out better than my expectations, when i turned the system on i was so surprised. The NM800 was only on flood.Hope theres no rain on Sunday night so i can test it fully. Just checked the lens order, hope this makes sense roduct Name: CCTV Lens; Image Format: 1/3" Mount: 12 * 0.5mm; Focus Length: 16mm Aperture: F2.0; Angle of View: 21 Angle Edited August 24, 2013 by Davyo

Davyo
Well NV now finished field tested last night and rabbits clearly identified out to 175mtr but most imprtantly also able to see backstop. Took out rabbits to 80mtrs, as clear as day.Havent even bothered winding up the NM800 to max as 70/80mtres my comfort zone. The main thing I wanted from the NV was to be able to see past my target and itentify a backstop.First of all many thanks to Evo for planting the seed as I have ended up with a peice of kit better than the NS200 in my opinion for a fraction of the price. Also big thankyou to kiffy as the rally hosing is mint and thanks for the stuff you sent me.? Lastly I only neef to tidy up the cables, idealy id like them proffesionaly shorted, as don't wanna try this myself as don't want to look the crystal clear picture. So any body know anyone who dies this??? Not sure if this will work for you, but this pouch just, and I mean just allowed me to put all of the loose wires in it, as well as the battery, so it's all stock mounted! I only have two wires coming from the pouch, one to the camera, and one to the LCD, so looks neat! kiffy
mines just about finished now, epoxied a small box onto the back of my screen to tidy the wires up and fitted four sockets, power in, power out to camera, camera input and camera output so i can connect a little dvr to record as i use it... might never do it but thought i have space to fit one so go for it. cocked it up and used to much epoxy and didnt notice until it had set so it looks awfull... also misplaced the screws for the box so used some i had for now.. think ill need to get a new box so i have the right screws and slightly bigger to hide the mess i made.... although its only ever gona be on show in the dark im to anal to leave it as it is heres a few photos i did along the way... heres the silcone engine pipe joining thingy i got from ebay... worked perfect when i cut an inch from the narrow end.. dam nthing attracted dust to it which is one of the reasons i decided to heatshrink over it to stiffen it up i used a small piece of adhesive lined heatshrink over the narrow end, only did the narrow end as it wasnt wide enough to do it all and i wanted some flexability to squeeze it over the scope.. the silver tape is duck tape i put on to save burning the gland with the heatgun when shrinking it... i just know my ham fisted sausage fingers would have burnt it given half the chance then i put the large heatshrink over the whole thing to tidy it up when id shrunk the large heatshrink i noticed i had forgotten to put the cable underneath as i wanted to.. so rather than cut it of i put a second piece on.. now the cables coming out the right end! i then cut the cables down to size and put new connectors on heres its first test run on the scope to make sure it fits ok.. thankfully it was perfect, flexible enough to get on and just tight enough not to move when on next plan was cut the leads down on the monitor ready for the box to be expoxied on.. box was glued on the right hand side so all cables would be on the right, away from the cocking bolt on the left (left handed gun) heres the screen with the box glued in polace and all sockets wired up, as mentioned abouve REALLY not happy so it will change to get it looking perfect... if i put a larger box on as i hope ill probably put a small on/off switch on as well to save me reaching in my pocket to turn the battery of think i might get some right angle connectors as well so they dont stick out as much as they do now finshed setup from the front.. leads nice and short out of the way.. finshed setup from the back, nice and tiday apart from that damn messy box torch looks like its to low on its mount, i thought looking through the scope in the dark id see a small dark semicircle where the top of the scope was blocking it... but in use its fine thanks again to evo for coming up with the idea and given me loads of tips along the way.. its working brilliantly.. cant wait to get rid of this crazy dose of gout i have so i can get out and use it heres my final costing, all in at around £165.. really chuffed compared to the NS50 nitesite i was looking at NIGHT VISION CAMERA £32.59 12mm LENS £4.29 GLAND £1.71 SILICON SLEEVE £7.91 HEATSHRINK £4.48 MONITOR £13.95 MOUNTS (FOR MONITOR) £11.78 12v BATTERY £12.88 MINI ABS BOX £2.50 TOTAL £92.09 ILLUMINATOR 601B TORCH £6.67 IR DROPIN / LENS £50.00 BATTERY (x2) £5.13 MOUNTS £11.78 TOTAL £73.58 Edited August 28, 2013 by kiffy
kiffy
should have mentioned on my costing, i had a few connectors i didnt pay for and bought several items which as my design changed i didnt use so final spend could have totaled twenty quid more if anyones wanting one and isnt 100% dont waste time and money like i did.. and i used a lot of time looking for the right bits at the right price... buy your kit from evo, hes done the leg work on this so knows that each piece is the right piece

kiffy
all pretty much the same arnt they? i totally ripped evo's design.. i wouldnt have attenpted this unless i had i had a pm last night asking about the heatshrink i used, for those who dont know what heatshrink is its a type of plastic tube that shrinks when it gets hot, not hair drier hot i mean paint stripping heat gun type hot or with smaller sleevings a gas lighter works fine. generally they shrink 2:1 so they shrink down to half their size although there are many variations like 3:1 and 4:1 which shirnks to a quarter of its start size. heatshrinks a wonderfull thing, i use tons of it in work from 1.2mm upto 38mm.. unfortunatly the sizes i need here i got from ebay not from work the adhesive lined one i used has a layer of glue over the full interior of the sleeving, when heated to shrink it melts the glue and sticks it to what ever it shrinks onto, in the case of my silicine tube even using that small piece added a lot of strength to it as the sleving when shrunk goes fairly hard.. think plywood... many thin layers of wood that would snap instantly if bent but a thin layer of glue between each and its solid and difficult to snap.. by adding the adhesive lined heatshrink it gave the silicone tube structure which means the image on the screen doesnt shake or wobble there are a couple of things you have to be carefull of with heatshrink. the heat needed to shrink larger tubes can melt whatevers close to it which is why i wrapped layers of duck tape around my gland and put a metal rule over it to shield it from some of the heat.. you also have to be carefull with adhesive lined heatshrink as if you squeeze the tube as its shrinking or before its cooled the molten glue will ooze out and will burn you!
