Bobba
There is an old poem respected by many fishermen which goes something along the lines that when the wind is in the south it blows food in the fishes mouth; when the wind is in the west the fishing is best; when the wind is in the east the fishing is least. Does wind direction have a similar effect on pigeons? I ask because last week I had a great day in southerly winds and today a cold easterly and not a pigeon in sight. (But, then again, the could have just moved to another farm!!!!) Bob
TIGHTCHOKE
More likely the temperature of the wind!
lakeside1000
definitely the temperature is the key, shot on thursday with a mild south easterly blowing, pigeons came in all day, went back on saturday, the wind was back in the east and freezing brass monkeys gonads off, hardly saw a bird all day, they do not like these cold easterlies, it takes too much energy to fly against it and keep warm, they would rather just sit in the trees until it warms up. motty
I would say wind direction and temperature has very little to do with where pigeons will feed. The temperature might have an effect on how hungry the pigeons are.
henry d
ATM where I am, most of the birds are in the woods (remember they are woodpigeons) picking at the shoots emerging, it is also warmer there. Once the weather warms we might see more on the fields.
