sitsinhedges
Hmmm, no. OK, if we aren't in Europe, then which of the 6 remaining continents are we in? Africa North America South America Asia Australia Antarctica Turkey is looking to join. Is Turkey part of the European continent? What continent we are on is missing the point (conveniently). And how come Israel is in the Eurovision Song Contest
FalconFN
And how come they won with a transsexual act and we couldn't win with some of the worlds finest perform......ah.

Mainly because a lot of european countries hate us and will only vote for each other. It's always been this way, we are not them.
FalconFN
The first part is probably true, and we have awful songs, but we are still European in every way. Being European isn't the same as being part of the EU, it is a different thing entirely. In the same way Hawaii is geographically and culturally very different from Texas, Alaska or New York but they are part of a union. Where as North Korea and South Korea are as close geographically as the people are genetically but they are about as far removed from each other politically and economically as you can get. What we fail to realise about the US because it is not immediately obvious is that each state is a separate entity and exists separately. They have never had an overbearing amount of Federal Government control trying to run every aspect of their daily life. What control they have has grown up with the country as things have developed from fairly primitive beginnings. In Europe they are wanting to make pretty sweeping changes to countries that are already deeply entrenched in their own ways of doing things. Chr15j
Just a point of note, Europe does not run the UK, European law only applies to us because we allow it. Repealing the HRA would enable us to step away easily. To clarify we legislated to allow euro law to apply in UK, legislation is changeable, this is the foundation of sovereign rule!
