V8 90
I currently have a Hawke Sidewinder 6-24x56 SR12 Ret on my CZ Hmr & really like it - I've just bought one of the new Bushnell 6-24x50 Elite Tacticals for my .204 & now have a Zeiss Duralyt 3-12x50 spare - I really like the Hawke but know the Zeiss is a "better" scope - So - do I leave the Hawke on & sell the Zeiss or fit the Zeiss & sell the Hawke ? Gregthegreat
How can you consider keeping a Hawke over a Zeiss??! It's a no brainer! Greg.
Mungler
I can't get on with Zeiss - an eye relief thing. Bin them both and get a pre Z series Swarovski - they're not as expensive as you might think
al4x
£650 or so will get you a 6-24 x50 older swaro as mungler says, my only issue with the zeiss is I like a bit more magnification available. As you are used to it with the other scope I'd stick with what you know works
Dekers
Do you have a problem with your Hawke on your HMR, if so which part of the Zeiss will fix it? If not, why do you want to change it, the Zeiss may be a better scope, but if it aint broke don't fix it!
V8 90
6-24x56 is too big of a scope for a hmr stick the zeiss on top I only use the Hawke on 10x or 12x Do you have a problem with your Hawke on your HMR, if so which part of the Zeiss will fix it? If not, why do you want to change it, the Zeiss may be a better scope, but if it aint broke don't fix it! I have no problem at all with the Hawke on my Hmr - I love it !! Thanks for the input guys I have the old Hawke Sidewinder 6.5-26x52 on my HMR, it has been on and off several times as I have swapped it for what seemed better/more appropriate scopes, it has been back on for some time now and is staying on! bullet boy
That's a no brainer-I'd keep the Zeiss unless you need the money.
V8 90
That's a no brainer-I'd keep the Zeiss unless you need the money. I don't need the money, BUT I don't like having things sat about that I'm not using !
Alycidon
Have a look through both late into the evening as the light is really starting to go. You then should see the difference. Only keeping one then I would keep the Ziess, no question. But I would also keep the Hawke, if its a half decent scope you may need it one day to check another scope out it another rifle starts to throw rounds about. Gimlet
I don't need the money, BUT I don't like having things sat about that I'm not using ! Do you honestly use 24 power on an HMR? In low light you can't go above 8 power anyway without dimming the image. Do you have a problem with your Hawke on your HMR, if so which part of the Zeiss will fix it? If not, why do you want to change it, the Zeiss may be a better scope, but if it aint broke don't fix it! No may about it in my opinion. I reckon Duralyts are propably the best light gathering scopes you can buy at that price. I just wish they made them black instead of that brown/purple colour... V8 90
Do you honestly use 24 power on an HMR? I use it on 10x most of the time sometimes 12x sometimes 6x if its nearly dark. I just wish they made them black instead of that brown/purple colour... Mines a dark metallic Grey
