neil3728
I use the insect repelent wristbands on the children, and these seem to work really well. also saves having to spray yourself all the time. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XPEL-Mosquito-Repellent-WRIST-BANDS-x-2-DEET-/280655126058#vi-content These are really cheap but you can get some more exponive ones that last longer. IEH
and another for Avon - this is the one to buy http://avonshop.co.uk/product/bath-and-body/skin-so-soft/skin-so-soft-original-dry-oil-body-spray.html I also stopped using the high DEET products when a plastic tackle box started smoking and melting following me touching it with hands to which I had applied one of these! I've also used an Australian product called 'Walkabout' which I think is based on Tea Tree Oil - very smelly but quite effective. I once used an insect repellant containing DEET products and came out in a nasty skin rash all over - it was so bad I had to go the the local hospital A&E department! Churchill
The manual for the Maxus warns of not getting products containing Deet onto the synthetic Stock. A melted stock cant be a good thing.
moorvale55
Grow Marigold plants, when the flowers are in bloom collect them and rub them on your skin. I work in the food industry and have been out shooting wearing a "hairnet", they stop anything going into the food and also stop any midges etc getting to you. Make sure they cover your hair and ears. I've worn mine under a normal cap and it keeps them off your head. Your mate may be scratching but you won't be. They are available in all sorts of colours, I even got some permanent markers and made mine into some "cammo" ones!

Frenchieboy
essential oils of citronella and lemongrass mixed with almond oil carrier has worked good for me and friends in the last 3 years This is what I use whenever necessary! I blend my own and it works out a heck of a lot cheaper than the "shop brought insect repellents" and works just as well if not better, and it is safer to use with no apparent "side effects" to the skin - Many of the folks I go Crown Green Bowling with get me to mix some for them and very rarely if ever get any of the problems with midges etc that other players get! bicykillgaz
I've just received (yesterday) my Avon skin so soft gonna go try it today near a pond I shoot near, I don't normally go near it especially in the evenings as the mozzies are huge there like bloody wasps and I react really badly to the bites come up in big lumps, I look like I'm smuggling marbles under my skin! I've tried products containing deet but it needs reapplying too often it seems like sweat washes it off. I've tried a head net but they still get me through my gloves and clothing. I hope it works, I'll let you know the results.

Well done Johnny, that is near enough the amounts that I use! If you make it too much stronger than this you can get some funny looks from those standing close to you as it could make you smell a little like a bit of a "sweety pie" and in need of a mankini!
