steve_b_wales
Can knives be bought from the USA, and delivered into the UK?
Peskyfoxs
I used to, obviously providing they are legal in the uk (no fick/butterfly knives)
steve_b_wales
Yes, all legal, they are Buck hunting knives. A mate of mine is interested in buying a few.
aris
Depends on the kind of knife. If it is not legal here, or even looks like it might not be legal here, it can be confiscated.
Peskyfoxs
I used to import knives and axes from the states and Europe for a number of years, you should have no problem with Buck knives Here you go, if its not on the list you are fine: https://www.gov.uk/import-controls-on-offensive-weapons
Peskyfoxs
Don't forget duty & handling, I bought one of these a few years ago and got a hefty bill . http://www.bladehq.com/item--Chris-Reeve-Small-Sebenza-21-Knife--17040
rimfire4969
I have bought a couple of knifes into the UK from the states including a Buck Alpha. I had to pay some duty on them when they were delivered. Edited June 11, 2013 by rimfire4969
Salop Matt
When in the USA in august am going to treat myself to leatherman and am going to buy it out there and either put it my luggage for down in the hold or i will post it back, either way minus the wrapping etc. The same as the clothing we buy, we will remove all tags and post them back home and put cloths in our cases and avoid the import taxes. figgy
Have a look on Britishblades site and forum. Some good advice as to what you can and can't have not all are on the list as some gravity and assisted openers get you into bother even though not listed, or were not last I looked. paul65
Fixed bladed knives will be fine so long as they are legal in the UK. The issue that seems to be cropping up most is for folding pocket knives that could be opened with a hefty enough flick of the wrist. Customs are seizing these as 'gravity knives' in some instances, even if they are non-locking knives. So the blade of any folding knife needs to be tightened right down before despatch. Once they've categorised your knife in this way, you're stuffed unless you want to fight a legal case against Customs that you probably won't win anyway. NickB65
Just watch the duty charges as they can be very hefty..... I purchased ten fur hats from a Canadian company and they came through fine... I purchased another for my daughter and was stung for a hefty duty charge.... If you can get them to put gift on the shipping label then your onto a winner but always be preapred for the duty cost.

Although that constitutes fraud, which I'm sure you don't mean to encourage.
Roly
Expect to pay around 8.5% Duty and the Std 20% VAT where the knife type is allowed.

Would'nt dream of doing such a ghastly thing to our dear old Customs & Excise friends!
aris
Expect to pay around 8.5% Duty and the Std 20% VAT where the knife type is allowed. Remember too that VAT is paid on the price of the item _AND_ the shipping cost.
