Have a look at carpro iron x

You must be made of money if you can afford to use iron x as a general alloy wheel cleaner. It's proper use is to remove metal particles from paint work and as a last resort on alloys to remove any baked on brake disk/pad material if a general alloy cleaner like valet pro bilberry cleaner can't get it off.

Iron X is great as a wheel cleaner, though I prefer wolf chemicals Deironiser as that can be left to dry were as Iron X can't, but any thing that makes the cleaning of wheels easier IMO is better than spend 60 mins per wheel cleaning As I have done in the past

The OP said his wheels were a disgrace so Iron X or Deironiser would be my choice, Billberrys is overrated too even neat it struggles

Meguiers wheel Brightener or wonder wheels I I go down the acid route

Main thing is Seal the wheels whe you get them clean, GTechniq C5 or a simple alloy wheel wax will suffice

Or as a weekly wash Wolf Chemicals Clean And Seal, cleans and leaves a nano coating behind when you rinse off

I think a lot depended on the car too. Some manufacturers disk/pad materials leave a lot of hard to remove brake residue whilst others don't.

I found on my old nissan pathfinder, a quick spray with diluted valet pro and a brush and they were back to new, yet my dads landrover D3 would often need neat valet pro and then some iron x to remove the metal particles fused to the alloys.

Cheers

TFR that's what all the other brands are based on and is what all the hand car washes use it is a wagon cleaner but its amazing on everything from driveways to car seats 30.00 ish for a 25 ltr drum will last you a lifetime , stick in a defuser bottle you don't need a lot, if you do the seats spray on lightly then use a carpet cleaner with warm water TFR stands for traffic film remover lots of places to buy it from if you google it :)

Autosmart smart wheels is imo the best, but can only buy it in 5l, bilberry good Also. Auto finesse imperial good cleaner but isn't very foamy. All of which are only available from detailing retailers (online). Otherwise your local Halfords should sell Autoglym wheel cleaner, 500ml bottle for about £6 which is good

Acid products are ok once or twice if you have really stuck on stuff, wonder wheels about the worst, local ****ty cleaners use brick acid, this will strip your laquer in no time, as will an acidic product, use the correct stuff

I am pretty keen on detailing, as you can see,
