turbo33
I am a reloading newbie, and since getting it all set up, making the shot etc, the shooting has all but dried up, typical Anyway, I had a call from one of my keepers yesterday to say the corvids were now having a go at the wheat, so could I get up there. Arrived at 8.30 and had a look. They were going down in the middle of a large field and hovering on the wheat and pulling it over. Just the job for the flapper. Obviously, I couldn't set up in the middle of the field so set up under the flightline backed right into the trees, with 6FB's out. The first one down went on the flapper, set just at the top of the wheat, looked just the job I was keen to see how the reloads worked as in the back of my mind, I needed convincing they were as good as bought shells. I needn't have worried as they performed brilliantly, pulling down some absolute crackers As is often the case with corvids, getting tucked back under foliage so as not to be seen made for very awkward shooting, and as the birds were approaching, mostly from behind, by the time I could get a bead on them, they were quite a distance. Anyway, it all went quiet at 2pm, so ended with 62 down and 46 picked. As usual at this time of year, the stingers claimed some and the rest in the wheat, so they were left to avoid damaging the crop.
