Ive cleaned my phone three times after answering it with insides all over my hands... Urgh!! Edited June 22, 2013 by lap9387
Beardo
Don't worry, you could eat it and you wouldn't get them, they're very species specific. Even a dog can't get those ones, it's safe to feed them fluke rabbits believe it or not.

dadioles
If those rabbits went to an abattoir or butcher they would be rejected by the inspector. Any rabbit I shoot that has a less than perfectly healthy liver gets thrown into the hedge for the foxes or binned. Another thing to look out for are cysts which may be filled with eggs or worms, again, in theory if properly cooked there is no human health hazard but if it is less than perfect - into the bin. They are signs of a sickly rabbit and not something I would want to eat. If it is not good enough for me it is not good enough for my animals. Rabbits are not so scarce that we have to eat the bad ones.
the pigeon man
Fluke is a nightmare for everything this year :(
30-6
Those "cod liver oil" bits are the gall bladder, find them in fish as well, if you cut them while gutting they taint the flesh and tastes fowl. The white bits are i agree what i call fluke, and to be honest 99% of rabbits i shoot have it. A friend who has a most of my rabbits is quite happy to eat them minus the liver and has done so for many years.

They always get the red offal but I chuck livers that don't look clean. Obviously they don't get anything with tapeworm cysts.
beachbouy_ipswich
In response to this. An old boy I shot with told me the white marks on a liver are the early indication of mixy but are still fine to eat harmless to humans. Not sure though I have eaten them and still look normal. Some might say !
Greenhunter
I agree that the 'codliver oil' capsules are normal and of no consequence but IT would be wary of the other pale spots/blotches. Any of the aforementioned could be the problem. I only ever feed clean looking livers to the dogs. GH
wildfowler.250
I always thought it was an ascaris/milk spot liver rather than fluke. Either way you can eat the meat. And as mentioned, the other bit is the gall bladder.
