Pigeonwings123
Had a phone call from a farmer I do a lot of pigeon shooting for telling me that his friend also a farmer had a few pigeons on his barley and didn't no anyone who would shoot it for him . I got the farmers number phoned him up he explained to me where the field was. So with no hesitation I went straight to the field only seeing a few fly over the barley nothing special then all of a sudden the field lifted with about 500-1000 pigeon getting up and straight back down again . I then walked the pigeons of and waited until they returned to pick my spot which is on the corner of a hedge on the outskirts of the field which is where the pigeons where flighting. Off to the field Saturday lunchtime to see what we will achieve.
JDog
Good luck on Saturday but do not assume that the pigeons will behave exactly in the same way as you noticed today.
fenboy
No a different day could be a different result as I found last week , I watched a good 400 trickle into a field in a 30 min spell , back the next day and shot 12 between 2 of us with hardly a bird to be seen !! pigeon controller
Depending on the size of the downed barley a thousand birds will clear it in a day.

PhilR
On a farm I shoot over the pigeons are starting to drop onto the barley. Several of the fields have game cover crop sown along them, around 20m wide, which is only just starting to come through. I set the magnet and decoys out on the cover crop and the pigeons just overfly the barley to join their mates. The trouble is a lot of shot birds fall into the barley. On Monday a friend and I shot 180 odd but could only pick up 131 for which I do have a photo of. Walking or driving around the field margins it is surprising just how many pigeons you can put up by clapping hands or sounding the horn which were totally invisible. I've got environmental margins but they're not that wide. Ill give it a go though when the time is right. Thanks
